Formula one class, 10K RPM? Ever watched F1?
3L turbo is going to sound like chit.
Undersquare engine for higher engine speeds?
Must be the first time journaling an automobile?
Meh.... I'll believe it when I see it. Yahoo has made a lot of claims about the corvette line that hasn't been true.
I hope that is all false. I don't want no steenking formula 1 car, I want a corvette for the raw big block power
Because it didn't already roflstomp them already with 638 hp from a 6.2 L motor...The engine is expected to deliver in excess of 400 horsepower, which means a specific output in the range of 125 horsepower per liter. That’s the sort of number that would help the next-generation Vette stack up well against the likes of a Porsche 911 or Lamborghini Gallardo.
F1 is limited to 18K unless they submit to a limited budget....near-Formula One-class 10,000 RPMs
10 is HALF of 20, which is what they used to rev to before they limited them.
So they're bringing back the big block? There will be several different types of engines offered for the C7, including a more classic, big-block OHV V-8 designed to appeal to traditionalists.
Since when?
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu so new.
small v8's are awesome. yall just mad u wont afford one![]()
"A very senior GM executive"
wtf?
10,000 RPMs, uh can we say metal fatigue. F1 cars and other race cars only have to survive a race and then are rebuilt.
when i saw this the first sound of the motor came in my head was the Lexus LFA but thats got a 4.8L V10, i love the sound of it!!

Easy big boi. Porsche continued to use air cooled engines into the late 90's. They continue to use terrible heavily rear biased weight distribution. And I hate the appearance of all Porsche vehicles.
At the end of the day the Z06 is lighter than its competitors and makes 505HP all day long. Some Porches rely on overboost mode to acheive that power. While they cost 2x as much.
Not to mention dry sump engine and IIRC balsa wood floorboards of the Z06.
Lighter and more power, what more do you want.
Yeah...high revving V10 with probably a different degree "V"...sounds quite a bit different.
And actually, Yahoo is wrong. There isn't any realy plans for snails...as GM said they were going direct injection with probably a 5.x liter V8 still making the same amount of power if not more.

if they look like that red vette...i think all vette lovers will puke.
GM was also considering making the C7 Mid Engine, RWD but that too fell out after they decided it was too dramatic, expensive, and didn't fit the platform properly.
Big-Block is old school. Direct Injection is where its at. Take that paired with the 6.2T S/C motor and you will dominate everything around the block and still have gas left over afterwards. People love the V8 rumble, if they didn't rich people would buy civics instead of vettes![]()
I love the look of Sideswipe. Ol Stingray meets new designers and makes a baby. Its a thing of beauty.
Don't get me wrong, the European sound is an amazing sound, but I (personally) don't think its fitting for a Vette. They have always had the rumble and loud muscle sound and I don't think it should be any other way. I also think that given GMs 100,000mile warranty that still applies to the Vettes will not work with this smaller, turbo'd, 10k revving v-8 that makes less power than the current setup. I think there is too much to go wrong with them for GM to put it into production, when tweaking and Direct Injection will suffice with the current setups already. Corvettes are not designed to be like efficient daily drivers, they are muscle cars meant to show off. Keep them that way.
Ill tell you all in a couple months what we find out at the dealership, if the C7s show a 3L in my parts catalog you will definitely know![]()
