I have the droid x and for the past couple weeks my maps hasn't been working right. It finds my location. Finds my destination and even shows a map how to get there. However when I click for driving directions it just sits there and says "searching for gps" obviously its picking up a gps signal if it can find locations and show me a map to get there.

    What I've tried

    Restarting phone
    Uninstalling maps updates
    reinstalling updates
    Force closing app
    Clearing data and cache
2000 gtp- u-bend and res delete, hot air intake, flipped mounts, 104s, larger front sway bar, fbody front brakes, custom embroided floormats, custom carpeting,

Possibly has a map built in with or or w/e app your using. It may not actually use a GPS. Like having a map tucked into your phone. Just a possibility.

No it gives turn by turn directions. It used to work flawlessly. I tried researching online. A lot of people are experiencing the same. Motorola, verizon, nor google has any answers

Is your GPS on? Go to settings > location. Make sure WiFi and GPS are on. Then click Location Settings and check On in there. Not sure if that's your fix but some programs use the phone settings instead of their own GPS, it seems.

I had that happen to me and it was a pain in the ass...it wouldn't find my location and I couldn't get the gps signal to lock...and them randomally while it was in my pocket it would start to search for satelites and drain my battery...I took it to verizon and they cleared my phone completly and its worked ever since...it will do it once in a while but I just restart my phone. Its one of many dumb flaws with my droid 2 I hate

Polished Gen V, 3.1 mps, intercooled, S1X cam, northstar tb, and Tim King built trans with 3.29s and all the good stuff

Instead of using google maps. Try using just the navigation that is native to the phone.

I had a gps locating issue and it cleared itself up. Sometimes a reboot is a good thing.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Google maps is native to the DroidX (Android)

Just fired up google maps on my DroidX, and it's working perfectly. I'm rooted though. Are you still completely stock?

All settings are as they should be. The Verizon guy had me go through it all. Im completely stock as I just did a master wipe the only extra programs I have is a car projects app. Chase app and a ringtones app that I just downloaded. When I go into my chase app it can tell me where nearest chase banks are by using my gps...so gps is working I think its just a google maps software issue

Id love to root and get a lot of this crap off my phone but if I mess it up itm screwed lol
