I get to go back out with work finally after sitting around at the office for 2.5 months. Going to Charlotte for 2 weeks then out west for a while.
OMG what an ending to my day.
New kid at work stabbed himself in the thigh with a utility knife so I took him to the ER. Now, mind you, the cut wasn't terrible, but the kid is bleeding through his jeans. We got to the hospital around 4:15 and he wasn't even called back until around 5:30. He had called his mom to tell her what was going on and she had came to the hospital too. She came out around 6:40 and he STILL hadn't been stitched. I finally got pissed and left I had food waiting to be picked up and I have to be up at 5:00 am so I wasn't waiting anymore. He texted me at 7:10 and had just gotten stitched but was still waiting for a tetanus shot.
GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
good thing he dint cut his arm off.
reminder to self: stay out of PA hospitals lol
why are you letting children play with utility knife's? there should be a safety video on this somewhere. im sry i dont feel bad for him. i deal with a 36 inch power cutter this cutter will remove limbs with ease and i haven't been hurt on it EVER.
Granted the ER was packed tonight, but you'd think a guy with blood soaked jeans would be a priority.
I probably wouldn't have went to the hospital for the gash he had, but I am not entirely sane.
I've had stitches 3 times. Twice when I was a kid, and once when I was 20 and I didn't even want to go, but my mom made me. LOL If I had went to the doctor everytime I should have gotten stitches I would have probably had stitches 20 times.
It was a slip and basically his leg was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He just started Monday and he is already doing a good job. On top of that he was told by the doctor he should probably take tomorrow off, but he told me he wants to come in anyway, because he doesn't want to leave us short handed. For a 20 year old, he has a good head on his shoulders and this is an excusable accident.
as a joke when you walk into an ER have a fake limb that looks real then you get served ASAP.
ive had stitches twice, both times i could see bone. yeah thats when you know you need to run to the ER!
then ive had some nasty cuts that got the good old paper towel and duct tape band aid.
i cut the top of the tip of my finger off one time too. that hurt like a sob! i could see every layer of skin, like the rings of a tree, the center where it was flesh ( dime sized) was throbbing and you could see it pulse with the throbbing. no stitches for that one. sucked it up.
Sound like me Scotty. I stabbed myself in the forearm with a roof blade that looks like this, http://www.professionalequipment.com...-ch-hanson.jpg. There was a chunk of skin that was loose. I grabbed some gauze and medical tape and wrapped it and and let it heal.
Another time I was cutting samples of belting material and slipped and basically took the tip of my thumb off. It was still attached, but a damn deep cut. I wrapped the tip up and let it heal too.
I could continue, but I don't have all night.
well i have all night lol im in CA lol
ive taken a few shots from a hook blade as we call those in the roofing world. the last time i was cutting shingles around a new pipe boot flashing i had to install, and was in a odd position and had to use my left hand to work the blade, well the knife slipped out and nailed me in the right thumb close to the palm, damn knife was hanging from my thumb i backed it out tape and a towel again, then later on i noticed that the whole side of my thumb was numb, mind you this is a 3 mm cut and it seems i cut a nerve. took over a year for feeling to come back. and its still not right.
scotty may i ask you a question.
when on god green earth are you not in some kind of pain or trying to get your self killed?
the worst pain ever was one time i was stuck in the snow with my firebird, i stuck a 2x6x8 foot long board under the back tires, i was pushing with my left foot out the door while gassing it, anyone see whats coming yet?
the board shot out from under the tire hit my heal, my leg then hit the bottom of the car door, i have a dent in my shin to this day.
if ever i thought i broke a bone or 2 it was that day. once again, no hospital, walked it off over the next week or two lol i was doing the cursing out loud zombie circle walk after this happened. as im sure at least a few of us have done.
then there was the time i fell from a second story window. ladder kicked out and i rode it down to the ground, my brother said i bounced back up like 5 feet, all i saw was a bright orange flash when i hit the ground. i was out cold for a good 5 minutes. ( so im told) was also bruised up from head to toe on my right side.
then i fell through a roof this one time, ( happened more then once) so fall through and im hanging by the beams in the kitchen but when falling through my right foot stayed up in the hole i fell through, when it came out of the hole it popped like a chicken bone. i hooked a chair with my good foot, all while hanging ( and all torn up and bleeding from both arms from all the nails i fell past) i got to the floor hobbled over to the couch and watched my knee swell up like a melon, this time i went to the ER stat!
that caused a pulled collateral ligament in my knee, had a blue leg immobilizer thigh to ankle for a month. DR said i'd need surgery with in 10 years for sure, well its been over 20. proved him wrong. but that knee aint right either to this day.
when you're old you're gonna be a miserable old man. :(
Ok we need to wrap you in bubble wrap or get you a padded room. I will ad mit yes I did mess with high explosives when I was younger but I have not fallen through a roof yet. I feel sorry. For you scott. I bet your brother knock the ladder out from under you
Scotty, again you sound just like me.
One day I was headed somewhere, can't remember where exactly, but my POS car got stuck in a ditch if I remember right and I had to door open rocking the car trying to get it out when it rocked free and the open door pinned my foot between the ground and itself. No clue how I didn't break something, but my foot was bruised for weeks.
Another time I had just healed from a sprained ankle if I recall, and I was putting the coilovers and adjustable control arms on my Stealth. The concentric bolt on the passenger side control arm had seized and I was putting force on it with my feet/legs when the bolt snapped and I drove my heel into the ground with a lot of force. I almost cried.
And last one for the night. This one sounds simple and in the end didn't have any lasting damage, but it hurt bad when it happened. So where I work at we produce drop in bedliners for the international market. We have several molds, one for each different truck that we make them for. Each mold varies in size, but are around 34" tall, 70" wide, and length depends on short bed or long bed.
Anyway, back when I first started things were way disorganized and many of the molds were on the floor instead of on the racks where they belong. I had to find one of the nameplates and had to walk through some of the molds to get to it. As I went to step up into the one mold I didn't lift my leg high enough and hit the top of my knee on the edge of mold. I must have hit a nerve just right because there was a bright flash, I felt really heavy, I felt like everything was spinning and I felt like I was going to puke. I had to lie down in the middle of the floor and get my senses back to normal.
I hope to never do that again.
nah i set it on icy pavement and it kicked out on me. he was a spectator lol
and im a big mother f er, i was like 275 to 300 lb's when i went through the roofs. its one hell of a surprise when you do drop through tho.
and this all happened over 30 years. all very random odd ball crap over the years.
both times i saw bone via a cut/gash in me i was 12 to 16 years old, when i was 12 i was sleigh riding and ripped my hand open, saw the bone that moves your finger.
then when 16 i wiped out in sand on my moped, the bars crossed up and i was tossed, landed on my hands and knees, right knee hit hard and tore my knee open to the tune of 12 stitches, ( saw my knee cap) kicker is my jeans were not torn. oh bones are real white. i mean white!
oh i forgot the best part, i go home cause of course you know you need to go to the hospital. i show my mother and she takes one real quick look, then turns, looks at my father and says oh jimmy he needs a stitch lol im like maybe a few more then that. dad took me to the ER, mom stayed home. she dont like blood much and i had torn flesh hanging out of my leg lol
idk what it is with nerves that do that! i have one in my elbow (and i'm a very clumsy guy, I run into stuff all the time) and if I hit it against an edge just right, it shoots a pain from asshole to appetite and i get dizzy and wanna puke.
oh and there was the one time out of 3 that i broke my nose, but i broke it myself this time.
was working on one of my cars had a large breaker bar on a bolt over head, laying on my back, its slips off the bolt head and i pull it right into my face. busting my nose. blood everywhere and that flash from the hit. wtf is that all about?
This going to be a very long page lol. You guya need bubble wrap
