Sounds like he needs to ask the owner if it comes to that. Apologize but you've already made plans and he cant expect you to cancel to cover his shift.

Yeah, I told him right away that we already had plans and he gave me the guilt trip. Really dude?
I doubt I'm getting engaged, so his is a little more important but plans are plans...
I'm just going to feel super super bad if the owners won't cover for him. Cuz that's just the way I am.
oh well. proposing on valentines day is tacky anyway. she doesn't know its coming so she won't miss it...ya know.
Yeah...that's what I think too. But what do I know.
He got divorced in May, started dating this girl in September (mind you he didn't know her before this) and had the ring bought in early December. Now, I know that comes with some relationships quick like that. But he just got divorced and will be engaged within a year of doing such. If it were me, I'd be taking a step back and saying whoa...
Too soon D. I have a buddy that was the same way..got divorced..dated a girl within 2 months after it was finalist then come to find out they're engaged. Was only dating for a few months. Whatever happen to taking the time to really get to know someone and making sure you want to spend the rest of your life with that person.
... :th_doh:
You don't marry the rebound girl!!! He's an idiot and that is a tacky cliche. 99% of girls want something different and somewhat original these days, we see too many cliche proposals and most girls want to be "special". He's setting himself up for Divorce #2, he just doesn't know it.
Exactly! I'm happy for him and all, they seem really happy together, but damn...slow down.
I've been with mine for 6.5 years and I don't have a ring yet, so I'm probably just bitter....
But all of us at work think he's a little crazy for doing it so soon. I just hope it works out for them, he is a really nice guy and I'd hate to see him go thru it twice.
A guy Lee works with is proud of the fact that he got married, divorced and re-married all within 14 months....How can someone be proud of that?
*sorry if I offend anyone*
If Lee ever proposes...I hope he does it just out of the blue and not tied to a Holiday. I'd be happy either way, I just would prefer it not be related to one of those days.
I proposed on July 4th at a family gathering. i knelt down in the mud because it was raining in fron of her entire family. We will be married for 6 years this year. We had been dating for 3 years and were engaged for another year. It has been a wild ride thats for sure.
Your coworker is not too smart D.
I've been with mine for just over 5yrs now, we've lived together for over 2 and still perfectly happy. She will get a ring soon, but the ideal one she wants will push about $4,000 and since I'm the only one with a job (she's full time nursing student and I told her to focus on school so she can pass without job stress) money is tight and I can't swing it. I could get a cheaper one and she would say yes regardless, I know it, but I want everything perfect because I don't plan to have to do this again.
Plus I want her to be speechless, not yelling because I got a cheap ring lol.
Now I find myself looking at old Triumphs again. After my return comes in and I pay off my loan and do a couple of things to the car I might be able to pick up a cheap project...
I got out of working valentines day! Whoo!
I'll probably have to work I haven't had a day off since jan 1st.
Tell him there's another Valentine's Day coming around next year.
But seriously, any woman that marries a guy that manages his life so poorly that he forgot to ask off work in advance to propose to her deserves whatever she's getting herself into. They can be trite and pitiful together.
Friend zoned hawrd!

Congrats to Jteske88 for GPONA Feb COTM.
I guess our votes helped.
Brandon,
Nothing wrong with crying, hell even John Wayne admitted he cried. I been praying and still will. I know it's not easy but think of it as the start of a new adventure and a chance to try and discover new things, if you really feel you hit bottom, well that's a good thing because if you are down and out you only have one direction you can head in and that's up. One day you can sit back and say; "look what I came through and look what I showed them all." Tomorrow, have a toast and sing a song to the good times you had there, then sing a song and drink a toast to the better times yet to come.
Yep. Today I had surgery. Talk about a long damn day. I'm sore, and they told me they were gonna get me some percocet but at the last minute he said no to the pain meds and no to the nausea medicine. I was like well you ass, so my grandad donated some of his pain pills so I will survive.
But yep, I need to catch up on rest and gpf. Just can't stay up long enough
Thank you everyone for your kind words <3
Oh and I forgot to mention, I quit supe****s. I went in there and just explained what happened, apologized for short notice and everything and yeah. It's a done deal I'm gone. Such a relief.
I bet that is a relief, it always sounded like they were b***** anyway. Wish you a fast recovery from your surgery and will continue to pray for you, brandon.
Hope you have a good recovery from your surgery, and praying for you as well brandon.
