Well from what I've studied in psych, especially the development classes, there is a lot I could say.

But Bill hit the nail on the head pretty much. Discipline does not have to equal physical punishment. And that's the key.

I mean. I was raised mainly by my grandparents. Well, yeah, my grandparents gave me spankings here and there if I really showed my ass, but like if I went "home" with my mom and dad, my dad beat the crap out of me for breathing wrong.
YET now, with my little brother, he won't hardly touch him and he gets away with murder and bad mouths and is disrespectful. I mean... I took my lil bro somewhere one day and he wouldn't put his seat belt on for me, It was just me and him. I slammed the cars brakes and threatened his life if he didn't put it on. He just will NOT listen.

So there's valid points on both sides is what I'm sayin, but to this day dad and I aren't very close and my gma actually taught me right from wrong instead of whipping me and not explaining why I did or didn't do something or whatever. To me, she was the ideal parent. And if I have kids one day, I will model after my grandmother, firm nurture.

On a random thought, damn process servers came and served my neighbor papers (as you know he's an older man) so I got home just in time to intervene and send his ass on his way. Called my uncle, court date is tomorrow and he still hasn't accomplished much so I don't know anymore and quite frankly I'm running out of fvcks to give.

Ya see ^^^ I wasn't talking about beating for no reason. I was saying when I was a kid If I acted out in school it resulted in 3 whoopings (Principle, G-ma, Mother). My father wasn't in the picture during childhood but my Grandpa was who I looked up to wanted to be like, but when time came and I needed straightening he had a solid leather belt for the job.

I didn't get beaten for breathing wrong or because I talked during a movie, but if I acted out I got punished.

My cousin didn't get the "No" treatment much less spankings and he is a brat that has no respect for anyone but himself. His parents figured out at an early age where the line for discipline needed to be drawn and his younger sisters are respectable ladies, but he is a loose cannon with no bearing on anything. He is 19 and still wants to grow up to be a cowboy.

I firmly believe there is a fine line but if spankings were allowed still in public places the country would be a better place.

Example on this: GFs best friend has a young boy, just got to 1st grade, came home from day 1 and knew a new word. **** was the word. Notice how it is blocked here, not in school. Teachers didn't do anything about it and he picked it up from other 1st graders. It was day one and she said its not improving. Other than yell and threaten to tell the parents the teachers have nothing to do and its stupid.

Parents and the way they raise their kids does not always determine the outcome.

Lol it's a whole different issue to discuss parenting and education... I went to an all black school and Memphis is quite the rough city, so our principle was well aware of how it was the parents faults the kids were late half the time.

But my dad, he doesn't do much with my lil bro. Now his mom, my step-mom, she beats him like a red headed step child. SO ass whipping or not, Idk what's wrong with the kid. A few years ago he punched my grandmom (my memaw) in the stomach and she floored his ass, I mean to the ground he went with a expression on his face.

But my point is, if he did that under 10 years of age, what's he gonna do when he's 15, 16, 17? Is he gonna hit other adults?

I try to do well when he comes to stay at my house lol. Like washing hands and saying thank you and stuff, lol I drive him nuts with that stuff. But hell, someone's gotta teach you manners and germs.

I disagree with the whining thread. If I was whining I'd post in the thread. What I'm doing is venting, mildly complaining, and sharing my experiences.

You need to look deeper. If you're gay, you can't have feelings for her and therefore if you were upset with her would take it out on her.
