The original "Smokey and the Bandit" car was NOT a turbo car. It had a 6.6 liter (400c.i.d.) V8 rated at 200hp.301 pontiac.

HOWEVER, the Trans Am used in "Smokey and the Bandit II" was a 1980 Turbo Trans Am, which had the Turbo 4.9 liter (301c.i.d.) V8, which was rated at 210hp.
