I was just wondering if we had any bloggers on here, I run a blog with a friend of mine doing reviews of firearms, and we're both really starting to get into it. At first, we intended it as a way to earn a little extra money for ammo (through ad revenue), but our site doesn't attract enough traffic to pay us at all, and we just kept it going for the fun of it.

Anyways, I just thought I'd check and see who here is into the whole blogging thing, maybe bounce a few ideas off you guys and get some opinions.

Here's a link to my blog, if anyone's interested in taking a look and offering constructive criticism. . .

The beauty of the AR15 platform is the ability to customize it to suit your needs.
Not that you NEED a rifle on a regular basis.

    Still awesome.

I know, but still, the audience I was catering to understands the point I was making. The rifle I reviewed is in a caliber that is legal for deer hunting actually, so it could be used for a legal purpose other than "plinking" or "SHTF" as the idiots say. Only reason I have one is because I'm planning on hunting with a buddy this year, and I've got a LOT of training and experience with the M16, so the logical choice was an AR, and a buddy of mine was selling one cheap. lol

Anybody have any criticism for the site? Any improvements that could be made to the design, layout, content, anything?

i hate the ar platfrom. overly complicated. an example of a goverment contract that was paid before a final product was available. you can teach anyone in the world to shoot an ar at 300 meters in a week...or you can teach a monkey to shoot and clean an ak in 4 hours. damn russians and there doing it right thing. if you were wanting to hunt deer id far go with a rem 700 in 223 over the ar. but to each his own. now that im done ranting im gonna check out your site haha

It's illegal in most places to hunt with any caliber .223 or lower, with the exception of .22LR. That's why I went with the 6.8, because .223 is too small to legally hunt deer with in MI.

Not to mention, I've got more than a week's worth of training on the AR platform, I was in the Army, we re-qualified annually with our M4's. lol

its legal here, although there are far better options. i myself perfer my 30-30. i know all about the army. still in yea i read the article after my rant haha. just hate how everyones on the ar tit like its god. tons of better platfroms abound. i own an ar10 which as you know is just an ar platform in .308. an improvment, but still regret buying it. good review though, thorough but not boring. ill be back and visiting

The friend of mine who sold me my AR replaced it with an AR10 in .308, and sold it shortly after to pay some outstanding college debt.

I'm going to be adding some more content soon, I'm working really hard at just trying to get the blog noticed, if you all don't mind, I could use some help bringing in some more readers. I know it's still a rather new blog, but I think there's some decent content there, and I'll be putting up a few more reviews and having my buddy write a couple as well.

I'm thinking of getting my own domain name and starting up on my own, and kicking things off with a giveaway of some sort. . . If I could get the site traffic up to the point where I could keep posting regular updates and people would actually subscribe to the blog, I think I'd be in better shape.

I found a new background that I think is a little more subtle, check it out and let me know what you think. . .

I guess my website is blog based, so I'll put in a little input here. he background on your page is a little distracting and the fonts clash with the rest of the page. Also, your photos are kind of hard to see.

You may want to try a wordpress based page instead. Mine was super easy and quick to setup and it looks pretty legit.

I just changed the background, I was thinking of making the immediate background behind the text a lighter color with a darker font. What kind of font would you recommend? It looked kinda boring before, just in plain Arial Bold, then I found the "Permanent Marker" font for the titles. I can bump up the size of the images, they are uploaded there so they can actually be clicked on to see the full image, but I'll bump up the size one more notch on the pics I've already posted.

I was thinking of going with a wordpress blog, because the support for mobile blogging is a little better than with Blogger, but I don't want to have to hassle with moving all my content over to Wordpress.

EDITED TO ADD: I made a couple more changes to the layout, enlarged the photos, and widened the display width of the main section of text. Take a look at it now, let me know what you think. I would LOVE some ideas on a new background as well, I was hoping this one would grow on me, but I don't think it is going to work, it looks too busy. I may break out PhotoShop and make a logo for the top of the page, but that's not going to happen for a little while, I'm way out of practice with PS.
