My best friend actually lost his ZX-10 to drifting it, sorta :P That machine is a beast factory. It would run 110mph in first, 6spd... retarded. 2nd was a fun pull at 140mph... insta-wheelie with just turning the throttle in 2nd gear.

My idiot of a friend was rolling last summer in 100* weather. After driving around he got bored and decided to start playing. He's known for smoking the tires at 30mph and exiting the cloud of smoke in a glorious wheelie.... don't get ahead of me now. If you've never ridding in 100* weather, once that super soft, sticky back tire is warm... and the pavement is hot... it doesn't slip well at all. he literally just catapulted himself off the back of the bike at 30mph and watched it roll off into another car. He was fine, save for a few scratches on the knees as he was wearing his customary khaki shorts and white-t shirt, with a pair of Oakley's to save his face. I told him he was retarded, but cried for the bike.... total loss.
He now has a newer faster ZX-10R but slowed down on the epic burnout-wheelies. everyone has to learn sometime lol

Never understood drifting. Grew up on gravel roads and level b dirt roads, so drifting just meant you were getting there slower than the guy that was taking the corners and make it stick. Guess I am showing my age, but now everyone is use to FWD.

realistically if you can drift effectively then you can go faster than someone taking straight lines. however, anyone can know that sliding sideways will slow you down. it takes a lot of effort to both drift, and drive well, to do work how you want.

I dont want to argue, but state a few things about this. If this is true geometry is wrong, because the shortest distance between two points is still a straight line, but that class was years ago and maybe that truth has changed.?.?

If it is true though to the best of my knowledge there isn't a drifting track record held anywhere for the fastest lap on a track that allows oval or autocross racing given the cars are within the same HP bracket since that is about the only thing similar between the setups that is comparable.

Enjoyed years of watching the General Lee pull the ebrake and slide around as a kid, but in reality the times were extremely slow. Although that car could squeal tires on dirt.?.?.

    i do, duh.

honestly, it would more so be a garage queen than anything. i'd ride it, and ride hard, but i would never put myself in the situation where it'd be my life or not. however, the bike would be more than capable of killing me by the time i was done.

how are zx10's slow in comparison to any other liter bike? they all make within the same range of power of one another and all weigh similarly as well.

no, no. you're right. the difference between drifting and taking a hard line kind of blurs at a certain speed and dedication to a corner. would the car have been faster going into the corner slower and taking it with more care and sticking to the pavement? im not sure.

his 2010 is faster than the 2009 by a little bit, the 09 tracked a 10.30 and that was a humid day and he couldn't get the front to stay planted to get a good hard launch. the guy with the wheelie bar was slightly modded running mid 9s... Id argue that's one hell of a mustang to keep up with the bike at highway speeds and most of the runs the bike still pulled on em in the end. Plus the 05s only make 175hp vs the 190hp for the new ones
