never gave reverse grip bench a though other than narrow/shoulder width for tris. but wider than shoulder width, ill have to mess around and try that for ****s and giggles. Iv done as wide as a smith machine would allow my grip and that kills my chest harder than flies ever could.
I wonder if maybe you were pressing too close to your face... I think most drop it to diaphragm and press toward legs? Also, hand angle vs bar might make a difference. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but if I get to it before you, I'll let you know what I find. In the meantime, here's the best/fullest article I've seen on it. NWS.

For those of you looking to make weight for office competitions, I happened to check tonight... I dropped 5lbs water weight (or ~2.5L, so keep drinking homie... that goes double for you cardio bunnies) in an hour at the gym tonight. I only know this because I'm house sitting for friends hat own a scale.

i weight myself last night while we were moving stuff out of the bathroom to clean, back up to 239lbs. oh well.
time to hit the gym now that ive gotten back to a 'normal' weight.
One month after starting the weight loss challenge at work I'm down 20.5#'s I'm thinking I'll aim for 190 that leaves 16.5#'s to go
140lbs now....

slow I tried the reverse bench last monday on smith (245) and this monday on flat (185). I can say its weird. Ill have to study it more in depth to fully understand its mechanics. I can say though that my shoulder needed 0 warmups, so thats always a plus.
I weighed in at work on tuesday and am down to 205 so 22#'s down only 10ish to go :D
got weighed at the doctor last night at 235. here's to maintaining weight! booyah!
side note, side effect of the doctors visit and that i'm continually bleeding right now (and on antibiotics), no working out for a bit until i'm healed up...
