Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2012"
Well figured I should come back to this.... I never ended up getting to the gym this year or even getting a membership and the fact that I worked at bk through about October did not help at all. However I did not gain any weight. Fast forward to two months ago I got a new job in an auto shop and since starting there I have gone from 205 lbs down to 180 lbs as of today. All I did was lift car tires and other various parts on and off vehicles and being on my feet for my 10 hour shift helped too. I probably could have lost more weight had I brought in my own lunch from home instead of going out to get food everyday of the week, but regardless I am still happy with my progress. What I'm not happy about though is that almost none of my clothes fit anymore so I'm going to have to buy all new clothes soon but I figured I would wait until I hit the gym and start building up more muscle and even more fat. No sense in buying all new clothes and then having to replace them again in a few months.

For all you elbow babies, your form sucks and your doing it wrong. Stop resting on your elbows, stop using machines that put pressure on your elbows.
8 grams fish oil DAILY and go buy some Cissus, good as new.

Its not a spare time gig bud
Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2012"
You don't know that fitness isn't his life.
Hit the gym this mornign....another 901 calories.
To bring the group up to date, the afternoon gym thing wasn't happening as much as it should have. See Max kept bringing over cars...lol Life gets busy is more like it. Anyhow gym at work is free, with towel service etc etc. Come in early and get it out of the way before work. If I have the time, I'll go again in teh evening (base plan). Usually though, I'm pretty busy.
Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2012"
Kolton, assuming you had a serious question there... it's impossible to forecast something like that. I give it ten years. Maybe it'll take eight, maybe it'll take fifteen. It really depends on how hard and often you work, how much you sleep, and how much you eat. But you'll be closer every year if you keep it up.
Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2012"
I have no way of knowing. It depends on you. We all watch actors spend six months being hounded by a trainer and nutritionists 12 hours a day to get jacked for movies. They work fast. Average joe's not into that, though, so I predict years of work. Maybe you're really lucky and you put on quick muscle for a white boy. Actually, here's some reading. NWS:

You really have no clue do you? If it was that easy everyone in the gym would have the best bodies in the world. You only get so far with your OWN knowledge before it holds you back. THAT guy dreams about the gym. His diet is to the T, I dont doubt if that guys is calculating his friday meals on monday. Skinny with skinny muscles, ha thats easy as ****, all idiots can do that. Decent build and sub 10% bf...thats dedication/life/education. Remember I wanna be this or that guys, if your NOT willing to bust the hell out of your muscles, diet etc for TINY GAINS YOU WONT GAIN ****.
If you never touched a weight in your life and went into the gym eating right, lifting like you want it more than life itself, your noob gains could easily be 80+lbs in the first year, NATURALLY. BUT the bigger you get, the stronger you get, it slows WAAAY down. Dont think you will keep adding 10lbs to ur bench every month, year after year. It doesnt work like that. If it did every dam person would be repping 405.
80lbs in a year you say? bull****? When I was 18 I joined a gym at 6' 2" 165lbs. 8 months later I was 205, body fat went up maybe 1.5%. I got accused of steroids CONSTANTLY. Why did this happen? I ate, slept, dreamed, thought about, and wanted it. Girls wanted to bang, my excuse? "I gotta go to the gym". Looking back 10years now, I should have banged them, missing one day wouldnt have hurt me. I wanted that more though.
Set a realistic goal, not some fantasy ****. Its fantasy for a reason. You want a taste of it, come down by me for 4 days I will probably make you quit. Life gets in the way too and it ALL affects your lifting/diet. Post up a double bi, rear lat spread and ur quads, most muscular for the hell of it. I wanna see how you could possibly go.
1 more thing, fitness is for LIFE, can you see yourself spending the rest of your life busting ass, counting your calories, watching what you eat when your not bulking? What if you bulk to far and you try to cut, but dont know nothing about macros and your strength drops 50% and your belly is still pudgy?
Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2012"
A bit harsh, but you make a good point about the short-term goals. I've had awesome success doing things like aiming for a slightly heavier lift within a couple months, or nailing down form on a lift for a month, or whatever. Even though the timescale can get a bit out of whack (like making it to your 8 month goal inside 6 months), even longer term goals, like "a 250lb squat by 4th of July" work well enough for motivation. Everyone's got an idea of where they want to be years down the road, sure, but make sure you don't disappoint yourself when you come up short on the goal because you underestimated how much work it would take to get there. Every day is just a bit closer.

KEY right there folks, thats how progress is made. not days, or weeks. MONTHS
Harsh ya, but iv seen everyone quit and it annoys me how people want this and want that, but really have no idea how much dedication it takes to get "something".
Oh, and keep your ego at the door. You may think your strong doing 1/4 squats, or bouncing the bar off your chest, or swinging away for curls. Never worry about what he is lifting, or what your lifting, form is more impressive than weight.

Gotta start somewhere. Lots of people underestimate the good a walk will do you. When I graduated from college, I gained like 20lbs without, I thought, changing anything between diet and gym routine... turns out all that walking around with a loaded backpack did me some good. Plus, it fends off muscle soreness/stiffness, and it's free.
Re: Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2012"
yeah, just did a loop of the neighborhood. a nice half hour walk at around 16min miles (2 miles put in almost exactly).
it's also decent weather to start running since you don't overheat while you're out. might start taking a few each week and see where i get.
