SO I have a bunch of left over l36 parts and a beat up l67 tb.

Im planing on scraping the CAT/downpipe.

Just wondering do the scrap places take all engine parts. I have heads, a tb, cross over and manifolds, and some other metal crap like brackets and stuff.

Would I be better trying to sell the parts still or would the scrap yard give me a decent bit of cash.

Yes they take all types of metal, the aluminum down here gets around $.30/lb and steel gets $.09/lb you'd be better off selling them, other than the cat... the last time I went to the scrap yard I had 937 lbs of steel and 63 lbs of aluminum and got $98

you may also make some calls, alot of muffler shops will either know the people that buy converters or they will buy them straight from you... the internals are worth quite a bit depending on supply and demand.

just a thought for making the most of what you have

Your better off selling good parts off, they don't pay much.

I had a LOT of aluminum I took in a week ago. Gutters off my house, misc. aluminum car parts that were broken or mis machined, a big barrel of aluminum machining shavings, 80lbs of crushed aluminum cans, etc. One of the things I took in was a ditch find, it was a set of shoring devices for excavating. Like these:

I should of cleaned them up, and sold them on ebay vs. taking them apart and scrapping them. I bet they would of fetched some good money there instead of scrapping them. Same goes for car parts that are still good. But the aluminum parts I took in were off a 2.2L GM engine, and I didn't want to mess with selling them.
