The differences in gauge clusters from year to year.

I know in 98 and later the "perf shift" was in the cluster instead of the DIC. EDIT: 98 was the only year with the functioning perf shift light in the gauges. 97, 99, 00 have it in the dic. (Thanks Silvaman61 and also DaytonaGTP)

I know in 01 they got rid of the perf shift but did they use the same cluster with the "perf shift" light in them(cluster) for the later cars without the perf shift and it just doesn't light up in the cluster? (If that makes sense)
I thought i also saw a picture somewhere without a tic for every mph...just 5, 10, 15,20 etc..can anyone confirm this? Are there any other differences from year to year?
Did all the cars get the same cluster regardless of trim. For example did all 97 SEs, GTs, and GTPs get the same cluster?
What about a 98 SE, GT, and GTP. Did the GTP get its own cluster with the perf shift light in it?
I also know in 98 the temp sensor starts at 160 instead of 100 like a 97. I know im missing a ton of differences..i just need help with figuring them out.

If i'm wrong about ANYTING, by ALL MEANS correct me!!!!!!

97-01 i think had the button of the shifter

98 had the PRF shift in the dash

01 or 02 and up have no ticks for each MPH

Just 98 or is it the 98-2000 that had them in the cluster and the 97 with it in the DIC. Or did just the 98 have it in the cluster and the 97, 99, 00 have it in the DIC? Sorry I know this is confusing?

01 and forward has no performance shift.

As far as ticking on speedo goes, I'm unsure.. I can say 01s have full ticking for each mph.

this. mine is also in the dic.
from what ive always thought the 97-03 clusters were all the same. it was the dic and hud that were different. could be wrong though

What is different about the hud? I thought the hud was the same. I know 98 and later had trac control in the dic but i thought the hud was the same from 97-03

97 DIC is 97 only because of the TPMS and 98-03 DIC should be the same.

I have a 2003 Limited Edition cluster that is different from the rest, but it's just the face.

However, My speedo ticks are only every 5 MPH.

As far as PERF SHIFT goes, I have a PERF SHIFT slot and it's part of the face. As we know, PERF SHIFT did not come in my car, but I wired it up and activated it in the PCM, and put in a socket and bulb in the cluster. The DIC will turn on, but not the cluster. I'm not sure if that's a change because I've read of other people adding PERF SHIFT and the light coming on in the cluster.

The 2003 Limited Edition cluster has a carbon fiber background with white face guages. It's really neat and easy to read.

That helps me a little bit cuz now i bet from 98 and later they all have the "slot" for the perf shift. I'm gonna have to hit up the junkyard and check out all of the clusters and see what has what.

if you have a digital DIC the perf shift only shows up on the DIC, not the dash. If you have a non digital DIC it shows up in the cluster.

I understand that...I just need to know if the 99 and later clusters still have the perf shift "slot" in the overlay.

So 97 is the only year without the perf shift slot in the overlay right? My 97 doesn't have it so I would assume all the 98 and later have them.

02 and 03 have no ticks between the speedo.

97's has "Unleaded Fuel Only" printed on the base of the fuel gauge, and the temp gauge started at 100 degrees in 1997. 1998+ went to 160 degree designation on the temp gauge and the Unleaded Fuel Only script was removed.
