Earlier this year I took my Cutlass up to a friends to get it out of my driveway, and also because he does custom fiberglass work and said he could rework my stock drivers pillar trim to house 3 gauges. Those who are familiar to the G-Body world know that only a 2 gauge pod exists but is an add on shell and not the whole pillar piece like a newer prix is. He took what I had, a two gauge pod, repositioned the gauges since they stare at the roof of the car as molded, and added a third section.... Ohh he also molded in my 1" tweeter housing. He called my earlier today to tell me it was painted and he was installing it later tonight or tomorrow. His father has a body shop and mixed up some paint to match the interior trim. He sent me a few pics and I was beyond amazed! I am picking up the car tomorrow and heading to a car show early this saturday so I have a lot of cleaning to do but cant wait to see the finished product in the car!!! Below is one of the pics he sent me...

Sweet man! I know my share about G-Bodies since my family is pretty involved with them. And I know the 3 gauge hassle.

    Let see:
My dad had an 81 Cutlass that he converted from diesel 350 to gas 307
My brother has owned 4 Montes, and still owns an 87 SS
My cousin has an 82 Cutlass with a 350/700R4 combo and also has an 85 GN
My uncle makes some stainless steel parts (including SS t-tops parts) for G-Bodies that end up going to a reseller.

Sweet! Dude, if you got any inside and outside pictures of that Cutty, I wanna see it! I love the old G-bodies to death.

My dad had an 1981, 1983, and a 1985 Cutlass Supreme Broughams. He bought them all new and since I was young at the time I only remember the 85. It was white w/ a white half vinyl top, and of course the spoke hub caps. It had blue interior, it was an auto on the column and had the split bench seats. Later my dad added the 1986 3rd brake light in the back window. It had the 3.8L in it, which they were pretty damn Gutlass (he soulda got the 307 at least). I always loved the look of that car, I really love the Hurst Olds too. Too bad there so pricey, theres a clean one I see in my area often.

Down the street theres a 1987 Cutlass Supreme (last year for the body, only year for those headlights they had). It has Weld Wheels on it otherwise itt got a fairly straight body. I've been tempted for months to see if its for sale, whats up with it and how much. I may check into it for real. Although I need another car like I need a hole in my head honestly, **** I barely have time to work on my GP much less something else! Be kinda fun having another project though.

And of course a rear window shot from outside the car hehe

Yeah its only there for attention lol. I wouldnt use it at all but Jen likes it and the digital dash I installed doesnt have a functional tach as it requires data signal from a late 80s ecm and we havent been able to feed it with anything it likes from a different ecm/pcm to get it working. The trans is electronic so I dont really care what the tach says anyways. I used to shift manually but just program it to shift when I want now with this trans, 4L60E

Twincharge...... yeah thats looking more like a fantasy this year! That poor turbo is getting awefully lonely in the box lol. I need to get into another shop, I just dont have the room or the time to work on my own stuff anymore. The original dash in this car was the long swept needle, our 86 442 had the cluster with the round gauges and I think a few other models got those also like the Calais, Hurst, and Salon options. The digital cluster is from an 88 or 89 FWD Cutlass supreme. A friend of mine had one laying around and kept talking me in to putting it in the car and since i am always about doing things different I figured why not. It really looks pretty sweet in there and i have always been happy with it, aside no functional tach but like everything else its a back burner project with low priority. Here is a link to an old homepage with some pics of the car....
