I finally found a GTP for sale that I want.

    specs:

    1999 GTP coupe
    Stock, no mods
    137,000 miles
    leather
    CD
    5 spoke chrome star wheels
    new tires and rotors

Overall, the guy says the car is in really good shape besides some slight imperfections in the paint.

How much should i offer the guy for this car if everything checks out okay?

I would say offer him 3200, if he says no then go 3400, then 3500 if you have too. For me with that many miles and the years I would say 3500 is the max i would go

so i checkout out the car last night.

everything checked out ok and everything seemed functional.

the reason i didnt buy it on the spot is because it had a slp catback exhuast (i dont like loud exhaust).

So my question is ...... if i bought it would it be hard to put back on a stock exhaust?

also should you be able to hear the supercharger whine on a non-modded car?

Blower whine is limited by the stock air box and pulley size

As for exhaust just cut the mufflers off and put some cheapo summit turbo muffs on and sell the muffs on here

well i thought about it some more and i figured i would throw him a lowball offer just to see what he said.

    I offered $3000.

He said he wouldn't take it and he would like to get $3400.

So i said if he changed his mind or wanted to work with me a little on the price, then he should call me.

he said he would keep me in mind.

so...now what. the more i think about the car the more i want it and i think he may sell it soon, so should i up my offer a little, or should i give him some time to think and then text him later and see what he says.

3400 isn't a bad price...plus you could sell the catback on CL for probably 300 or more...to someone that WANTS an exhaust. Then trade them for their stocker plus cash and be at the 3K mark like you wanted. Problem solved.

How hard is it to remove the slp and put back on a stock exhaust? How much would a shop charge to do that?

if he wants 3400 and you want 3000 tell him you will meet halfway and offer 3200 and problem solved. As far as the exhaust its a simple fix but if its slp you wouldnt want to cut into it as its stainless and the whole thing would be worth more then just the mufflers. I want a slp catback badly

Have you went out to www.kbb.com or anything similar and looked up the price in your area? Sometimes it helps to do that and print it out and take it with you, if it works to your advantage. Always nice to have the $ you want to spend in hand and in $20's so that it looks like a large amount of cash. All phyc stuff, but it tends to work.

3400 Is not a bad price if the cars clean as for the cat back Just have a muffler shop install 2 cheapo turbo mufflers they are quiet and you could sell the slp's on here and make that money back
Simple and under a 100 bucks

OR...I think a lot of you guys are missing the point of CATBACK...if he finds a donor car or a cheap stock catback on CL or Fleabay...he can just take the 2 bolts out of the catback and put the stocker back on...with one person...I say it would take MAYBE an hour...if you have a jack and jack stands it makes life easy

    Ahhhhh...

I can't decide whether i want to buy it or not and its driving me nuts.

he said he wont go any lower than $3400. and he is a young guy so i figure he beat on the car. but its in really good shape as far as i can tell.

if only he would drop to $3000, i would buy it in a second.
