when my a/c is on it seems to really take a good chunk of power away. so i dont use it that much. is it normal? i know its somewhat normal.. this might be a dumb a** question but would running a shorter belt and completely avoiding the a/c compressor free up any power? probably not. car engine also get loud under heavy acceleration with the a/c on.

My car is the same way, and don't waste your money trying to bypass it, because it's almost impossible unless you just get an a/c delete pulley. I try not to use mine unless it's mad hot outside.

thats how AC works, it has its own pulley and uses the engine to operate thus giving you less power and worse mpg's
