I would except I hated xp and it's incessant crashes (mine crashed at least daily before my upgrade) why not save windows 2000 since that is the most stable one (if you notice most retailers are running it, as is the laptop I got from the Army last year)
I will not! I use Vista now and I use Windows 2000 on my old desktop. So I hope XP dies I horrible and fast death!
Why not just wait till windows 7 comes out or just upgrade from vista premium to vista ultimate? I hate hearing about people downgrading their brand new comp's from vista premium to xp.
For most, it's an upgrade.
I've never had any issues out of XP that wasn't common with all version of Windows, even Vista. Vista is a resource hog.
I say screw 'em all. I run Ubuntu Linux with Beryl.

Side note, I do dual-boot XP for games and will one day add Vista when it becomes necessary and DX10 is worth something.![]()
We are buying a new laptop with part of our stimulis check when it gets here. Last two are 08, so probably pretty soon. Anyway, I will probably format it and do a fresh install of XP Pro only for the simple fact that I have two PC's that will be connected to the same router (one with XP Home and one with XP Pro) and want to share files between all three of them. From what I've heard XP and Vista don't play well together. Guess I'll find out.
xp doesn't play well with anything (only way to get xp to share is open it up completely which I refuse to do)
Well, I stand corrected. I setup my new Vista laptop to share with my two Xp PC's tonight and am having no trouble (so far) sharing files between all the computers and even sharing the printer. FWIW
