go to zzp and order one. they will charge you $10 standard shipping for a $2 part, but you should make it worth your while and order something else from zzp at the same time... that or try a junkyard

i have a spare screen for my car in the basement, just in case

The stock Throttle Body can be restrictive even on a stock engine. The factory installs a screen in the inlet of the Throttle Body to straighten the air as it travels into the MAF sensor. This provides a smoother idle and more consistent fuel delivery. For Maximum performance this screen is disruption in the airflow that can be removed with little or *no adverse effects. On the flow bench we have realized a 10-15% increase in airflow by removing the screen.
Begin by using two sharp objects like screws to pinch the retaining C clip together. Pull towards you for removal. Insert a small object like a screw or flat head screw driver into the edge of the screen and pry it out being careful not to damage it.
    * In 97 and 98 GM incorporated the MAF channel into the TB itself. On these cars we have noticed that some of them will idle rough without the screen in the throttle body. If you experience this, simply replace your screen.

BTW, the screen pictured by the OP is still usable as long as it doesn't split any further.[/QUOTE]

Thanks i will try and re use it hopefully it wont split, but i am defently going to get a new one asap, zzp says they are out of stock, and i refuse to pay $36 bucks at the stealership if it's true, i will just go to the hardware store and get some screening that they use on screen doors.

ohh and i'm pretty sure it's called MAF screen not tb screen like i said.

i found the MAF screen on rockauto for $22.79, I'm gonna call the stealership in a few to see how greedy they are.

    ^^^

Junkyard..... find a regal/impala/monte carlo/grand prix and take out the screen.

i would never make my own mesh one. 1. the fitment is tough 2. my luck i would have the engine suck the mesh out of the tb or a piece of it into my engine.....

My junkyards are lame, they wont let you go out and look thorugh the vehicle's and i bet they wouldnt let me just have the screen i would probably have to buy the entire tb.

well none of the parts stores have the screen soo it looks like i will get it at rockauto.

i think it comes with it, i still have my old one if it doesn't well the old retaining ring isnt perfectly straight but it still holds tight around the screen, i also fixed the screen alittle bit, took one of my favorite tools the little hook set, well i took that and pushed the holes that were smooshed together and turned it back into the hole. Soo how does the install go again ?

Just slide it back in from the front and put the ring back in. If the ring is bent just lay it flat and tap it back down flat.

It shouldn't be straight should be a curve. J/K with the post 34.

Might go out to eVilbay and just check what some want for a 3.8 Throttle body that has the screen. Seen some go for $20 or cheaper shipped to you.

I'd leave it in. It's the last obstacle to crud getting sucked into the motor should it somehow get past the filter.

for anyone thinking that the screen has a big effect on the car: you're wrong. i never ran one and so long as you tune the car correctly it will run just fine.
