Saturday, I do my usual thing and cruise up to the local strip and go to the lot where everyone goes to talk and show off the cars. It was a chilly night, so turns out, it was dead. However, I saw someone I know from the forums. He drives a black 2004 monte carlo intimidator. He says hes leaving to go downtown (st. louis) on the riverfront. Supposively, there was people who go down on this cut off area by the river and talk/ race/ etc. I said "why not, i'll folllow you"

We get down there, and its pretty much dead there too until several GTOs corvettes, and monte carlos come down there, and later some regals and grand prixs. They are doing high speed fly-bys, burnouts, etc. I just watched with my car parked on the side up an incline. Buddy wants to drive around, so we do until we get to the end of the strip where ppl usually start races at. His buddy had some 2009 Nissan altima or something and wanted to race me. Why not? We line up, launch, and i smoke it of course. Note, i race probably twice a year lol not my thing. We get back to the start of the road again, and my buddy in the 04 monte carlo wants to race his buddy in the altima. I just sat there watching in my car. They take off, and they get far down the strip to where i cant see them, there was a bend in the road and cars parked on both sides.

All of a sudden, I hear the screaching of tires and a loud bang. First thought, car accident. I see people jump in their cars, and drive to the scene, i follow. As I get closer, I have this feeling it was them that wrecked. Sure enough, I see a red altima, a black monte, a jeff gordon monte, and a gto smashed up. Air bags deployed in black monte, red altima, bumpers torn off, most likely totaled. The monte and gto on the side werent as damaged. Although, the jeff gordon monte may be totaled. The gto had rear end damage along with rear axle damage, the rear tire was bend in at an angle. Supposively, the guy in the altima hit his brakes and swerved into the black monte, clipping it, and sending it into a wild fish tail where it hit the jeff gordon monte and the gto.

First thing that comes to my mind, COPS. Here we were all in a cut off section, and they knew we were racing. No way was i going to be caught here with the chance of getting a ticket for probable cause of racing and points against my license. I took some pics, made sure ppl were ok, and gave buddy my number in case he needed a ride. I just cruised around downtown for a while, but never heard back, and I went home.

I get a call and texts the next day from buddy, and he says he was arrested along with his friend in the altima. I'm sure they also got racing tickets, and big points against their licenses, and maybe them even taken away. From what I was told, Insurance isn't paying for anything. I don't even know if the people they hit are getting their cars fixed from his insurance company. Would they have to sue? Do they get covered, regardless of them being in a place with probable cause of racing? I do not know. He asked me to be a witness for him in case he takes his buddy (red altima) to court. But, the police report says he was racing and even though it isn't his fault for the wreck, he was still racing. I didnt even see the thing. I just heard it , then saw the damage after.

So, lesson of the day is, do not street race like this. A couple runs on the highway may be fine, but remember, something happens, your fuuked. I got lucky, that could have been my car parked on the road. More so, could have been me getting fish tailed into the cars. I had just raced the guy earlier who caused it I would have been arrest, gotten tickets, lost license, higher insurance, no car, outstanding loan, and other problems. NOT WORTH IT. I was so happy i walked out clean that night. I learned my lesson withought learning it the hard way...

These are crappy cell phone pics, but u can see some of the damage. The red GTO was hit pretty hard. It was parked on the side, and u can see it out in the road with a wheel bent, along with the other caved in on the passenger side (not shown in pics). black monte had body damage on both sides and front with air bags deployed, same for red altima. Jeff gordon monte had damage as shown. Not sure if that can be fixed or not. Looks like it got hit good in the quarter panel. I feel bad for the black monte cuz it just had a tune, 3.4, and downpipe installed, it was a very nice car. I know the feeling of losing your prized car in a wreck....

Damn..lucky no one got hurt bad. This is why I never race people unless it's where I want to race, and there arent other cars around...unless its on a nice stretch of highway/interstate.

My thoughts exactly. I may give someone a quick pull here or there to mess around with em a bit but the hell with this racing with a bunch of other morons with cars parked on either side.

If you're dumb enough to park at the END of a race strip (or anywhere on it for that matter) and you get hit, I don't feel bad for you.

It's one thing if they didn't know there would be racing, but I think it's pretty clear based on the location here.

So, how was the Altima keeping up with the Monte that was tuned?
well idk, i just saw from the rear, but they looked even to me. they must have been close at the end for the altima to hit his rear bumper. i was told i should race it because its actuall pretty quick. well idk about that, cuz i had my car revved up to about 2800 rpms before letting off the brake on the launch and pulled it hard all the way down the strip. So idk if the monte just got a bad launch or what...or maybe it was beating it, and i just couldnt tell from the rear and then slowed down at the end where the altima clipped him. no idea.

whos dumbass cant control the car?
i have no idea how you would lose control of your car hitting the brakes and manage to fish tail your opponent. If it was a mechanical issue, that thing would have some serious tierod/control arm issues if it pulls like that hitting the brakes.

If you're dumb enough to park at the END of a race strip (or anywhere on it for that matter) and you get hit, I don't feel bad for you.
yeah, for some reason several ppl had their cars parked next to a median lining the whole strip. I initially had my car parked up that inclined ramp area in the pics, further away from the racing. That was before racing started....
