    Hey everyone i have a 98 GTP and im looking to get new rims i just wanted to know if anyone knew if 17's or 18's are better for performance for my car all my friends have imports and what not and keep telling me to get 17's because there better for performance for there cars but i thought someone on here would know what do do thanks

    your stock size wheels are the best. unless you get wheels that are bigger and lighter than your stock ones. The bigger and more the heavy the custom wheels are the more it will hurt you transmission. It will have to use more energy to turn the bigger wheel.

    yea im getting light weight racing rims and if i go with the 18's that i want with the right tire they'll be the same diameter as the stock rims with tire and weigh less

    as light as you can get stockers are about as light as you can get cheap

    yup found a nice set of black 18's with tires that way the same as my stock rims with tires and will be the same diameter of the stock rims

    just because they're the same weight doesn't mean they're just as good. Try to think of it like this, hold a hammer at it's midpoint in your hand... try to spin it... now hold it at the base of the handle and try to spin it... same weight, but you're changing the moment arm. It's easier for smaller rims to be better for racing.

    What zr1 is saying is that its best to reduce the overall rotating mass to get the best performance.
