I'm new at the whole video game thing, but I played this at a friends house the other day, and I am Hooked! My kid has a few racing games I like (x box). I'm not a real good guitarist. I am a drummer! (In the car, we JAM out! I beat the wheel and my son plays the air guitar. We are all vocals. Hubby don't ride with us) Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else got hooked like me. I got one now, and I'm fixing to get Rock Band!

Hell yeah!! I've been hooked since the first one. I have em all 1,2,3, 80's, and my friend has Rock Band. Rock Band is a lot of fun, especially the drums! Well worth it, lots of songs plus plenty of downloads along with new weekly downloads. Go pick it up and start rockin out on the drums instead of the steering wheel

Well I play the saxophone/clarinet and the guitar, well atleast learning the guitar, but nonetheless even though the guitar and guitar hero is nothing alike I still love guitar hero. I have been playing it a lot epspecially since the AAM strike has been in effect.

Man, the real guitar has to be easier than that damn game. But I'm still hooked. I do best on 'Rock & Roll All Night' by Kiss. I tried it tonight for the first time. Amazing. Remember, it's only my 3rd day

Expert is the most fun on those games. If you think its fun now, wait till your playing Knights of Cydonia on Expert! Its instense. Anyway, HIGHLY recommended you get rock band. I know the $170 (i think its still that price) is high, but WELL worth it. Ive spent waayyyyy more time playin drums, bass, and guitar on rock band than I've played guitar hero. Also, Rock Band guitar is, well, a LOT easier than GH3 to play.

I pretty much skipped easy, went to medium for a little while. Some tips for new players.

Dont spend time "mastering" easy and medium, these won't help you in the long run. What you wanna do is learn the "slide" on hard. This is the most useful tip right off the bat. Also, learn hammer-on notes. This will definitely help you beat the intense solos. Something I wish I would have learn right away is up-and-down strumming. I dont know about you, but my thumb was F'in tired after a couple songs that were really fast. Using up-and-down strum, you dont really get tired at all. These should help anyone learned fairly quickly. ROCK ON!!

...also have some tips for drumming if anyones interested, just about beat rock band on Expert, just havent played for awhile to complete it

Nope. Went down to $150 here.
I have no idea what 'Slide' means. I never learned the instructions. I just tell my kid to get the game ready for me.

guitar hero is a pretty addicting game me and so buddies justed rolling into wal-mart at 2 in the morning and they had it set up when i first came out and then sure enough we ended up buying it the next day. Expert is pretty fun but it get even better if you play expert with the hyper speed on

Gay-tar? lol I'm just kidding, I'm one of those who got smoked by my neighbor playing it, she was playing with the guitar behind her head, I vowed I would never play again... Until one night we had a poker tournament, got drunk and the winner of the tourney just took the money out and got rock band, so I dropped some bass lines and got hooked again... Rock band is pretty awesome!

Slide is moving your hand down one button so you can hit the orange one. Its not really called the slide, i dont know what its called, but thats what I call it. Hint: When you move your hand down on the buttons (your pinky is now on orange), look more at the screen and the placement of the notes instead of the colors. Just sort of follow the notes on the screen with your fingers. (Its hard to explain without showing what I'm saying)

Move to medium!! If you can do three, adding the pinky is no problem.

I have all of em as well. Rockband has become the favorite in the house. We had to do a warentee claim on it though. The bass pedal broke

That bass drum kicks my butt on the more difficult songs on hard. My 12yo son got to 98% on the metallica song on expert. That boy's arms were flayling so fast look like he was gonna take flight lol.

Yeah that bass pedal seems to be a problem. On my buddies set he already broke his once, just got a new one a couple of weeks ago and its already starting to crack again. Very poor design, but I have seen better replacement ones out there available.

Playing Rock Band has been a blast with my wife and 5 & 7 year old sons. My sons now want real instruments, and I'm all for that.

There is a certain way you have to...step on it for lack of a better word. Because there is no support in the middle it is most likely to crack in the lower middle of the pedal. Also, there are ridges that run across which make it worse (poor design).

Sooo, if you put your foot towards the upper part, you can't really bend it and break it because the little stoppers are stopping it.

I haven't broken mine yet and I bet the hell out of it.

For some reason, people are really impressed when I play the Metallica songs. Theyre not really that hard but I think people think they are.

Enter Sandman is my favorite to play. I'll have to challenge your son because I'm at 97%. He'll beat me lol

Luckily I haven't broken mine yet, but my foot/leg is killing me after 3-4 songs. I still haven't figured out the proper way to hit the pedal. Guess I just need to learn how to do it with my left leg as well, and give both legs a workout.

You know you can keep your foot pressed down on the pedal, you don't have to keep it lifted up. After some play, I hardly ever get tired now, I just have to walk around to get some blood flowing back in my legs.
