first i would like to sayIf you plan to modify any car you have Buy a decent set of tools doesnt have to be a garage full just enough that you wont be left hanging in the middle of a job... A few autoparts store rent out specialty tools...
Learn about your car do research Forums are a great place for information but there are other resources. Understand how a basic engine works you dont have to know every thing just the basics...

I have seen alot of people taking their cars into pro shops for simple instals like intakes and so on most mods any one can do with little to basic skills.

The reason i say this is if you mod your car it will break at some point and it gets very expensive paying a tech to fix your car $100-$150 an hour

Maybe im out of line but it just how i see it...
This wasnt directed at any one in paticular just something ive been thinking for a while

maybe this should be in the rant section?

But not everyone even with the tools is capable of working on a car.

I was going to put it in the rants but i dont know if it is a rant and honestly if you cant install simple mods yourself. should you be modding?

Why do YOU have to install it? Hell, if I had the money, I wouldn't do one ounce of work myself, I rather someone else install for me, save me the time and pain in the ass.

Like I stated, not everyone is capable of doing it, I'm not talking about a wheel change, or intake.. but some people aren't mechanically inclined, does that mean they can't have a cool car, or their own style?

I myself know how, and do when need be, but I also don't have some of the tools to do certain jobs, so I'd have to have someone else do it, most of the time I can find a friend with the tools, but there has been cases where I needed a shop to do the work, and to me it's a waist of what little money I have, but some times **** happens.

resource's i feel take a big part on whether someone does the work themselves or not! also, it doesn't hurt to get help when u need it! know YOUR capabilities, and use good judgement!

I MYSELF, could not build a motor! so, i wouldn't.

There is a guy who brings his cars to our shop. They are both show cars everything on them our shop has done besides paint. One is a 70 nova ss and the other is an 02 trans am. About every other week he comes in with something new to put on.

Ok a cam instal i can see getting help with major overhauls yes but basic bolt on mods is what im talking about
ANd yea most people who want to do basic mods dont have money growing on trees its always good to understand what your car is and such Im not putting any one down for not knowing how to im just simply stating my feeling on the subject I had a guy pay me to install and intake last week its cool i like money but the job took a screwdriver and a 10mm socket to do and the guy had a decent set of tools just couldnt use them took me 15 min and he payed me my min of an hour \

when i did my headers about 6 months ago i decided it was too big of a job for me because my car is a daily driver and i couldnt leave it in my garage so i took it to a mechanic near me that i trust. 500 to install them. thats why i wish i had a garage, some more tools, and another car to drive every day

I definatly believe in this. I have yet to find a so called cheap mechanic do a good job... I dont think its because they arent skilled i believe it more to be that they dont care do to the low labor rate

Your wording changed nothing of the implication.

How about this: If you do not have a solid grasp of the english language, punctuation, and grammar in general, should you be posting on an internet forum? Just my opinion.

It is an opinion that you expressed that has no bearing on how i act or feel about what i have posted. My opinion is just that an opinion and nothing more I see valid points on not modding yourself and having someone else do the work... It still doesnt change my opinion about it...

I honestly wasn't triing to be rude or force my opinion on any one....
