Ouch! Sorry to hear that! Probably some tard drove it who thought it was cool seeing all the black smoke and didn't know that the black smoke = sky high egts and melts pistons. That or he didn't give a ****. Obviously you have good mechanical skills so it would probably cost you more to get a lawyer than rebuild it yourself. I would go to the dealership and pay a visit to the owner. Find out who drove the truck and make sure that bastard gets fired. If he doesn't know what thick black smoke and egts are, he's not a diesel mechanic. If he is a mechanic, I'm sure hes seen a few melted diesels from dumbasses throwing edge juice programmers running extreme setting with a stock exhaust....... meltdown city. Therefore, it should be neglect on the dealership for letting "scooter" take a drive in a customers truck, or the mechanic being a freakin moron. Good luck. keep us posted.

I agree, but when you have a F'n gauge telling you that your EGTs are way too high, you let off. EGTs typically go up if you don't have enough flow mods when you have excessive smoke. That's all i'm sayin. If you don't have an EGT gauge and you see crap loads of black smoke, you are better off to back off the throttle. If you have a gauge and still are in a decent range, your fine. But, if his engine melted down, he had high EGTs which means someone is a dumbass or didn't care about whineys truck. You can produce all the black smoke you want if you can get rid of the heat quick enough.

I didn't see that. I just saw you said you had a "boost leak". They still should have known better. It most likely ran worse than a stock one, and he would have obviously saw some of your mods. Total neglect on their part, especially if he's one of their "diesel" mechanics.

Totally agree, It would hit 1200-1300 on small hills and i'd have to let off. Still if you have half a brain you should have to know that something was not right.

Yep, like, "man this guys gonna blow his engine if he doesn't get damn good exhaust mods on this truck or cut his fuel down cause his EGTs are high according to the gauge in front of my face" or, "hmmm their might be something wrong with this truck. Way too much fuel, not of enough airflow cause his EGTs are awfully high". Raise hell! Let us know what you find out!
