its like the minimum points though
ANY points affect you're rates...
1 point will increase it.
Being 17, I'm sure you're paying out the ass already.
i aint read all the other stuff BUT....
call the solisters office for the courthouse. ask if you can take some deffense driving clases so the ticket will not go on your record. ive done this many of times.
learn your leason, you could have got in alot worse trouble. good luck
AGREE...x1,000,000.
Plus...if your a responsible 17 year old...then you wouldn't have made the illegal turn in the first place and risk another driver's well being, or more importantly, yourself. Suck it up, pay the ticket...and end it. I'll laugh my ass off if you try and fight and he pops you for the smoking side of it. Then you dug your own grave there. I'm on probation right now for speeding. You go ahead and try to fight it...all I am saying is good luck; being 17...they will probably be harder on you IMO...that way your too scared sh!tless to do anything like that again.
Honestly I'd just be happy he didn't bust you for smoking and pay the ticket dude.
That's kind of a slap in the face to the cop, he was nice enough just to give you an illegal left turn ticket instead of illegal drug charges and you're gunna fight the traffic ticket lol
I am curently in school to be a cop and on the back of the ticket there is a naritive of what happened that night for the DA to read for court purposes (most people do not know this) So depending on what the cop wrote down on the back of the ticket is how lucky your going to get. But i don't think it will affect your insurance once you turn 18. I lost my license at 17 with -32 points got it back a year later and insurance is not as bad as i thought it would be. Now im 19 a policy for me and my girl runs like 875.00ish for 6 months for the two of us
lol now a little off topic but here it goes
lol my friends dad is a sergant at Racine PD (known him since i was about 5ish) i talked to him about it and he said it shouldn't be a problem as long as i keep my record clean and don't mess up again. He said when it comes time and they look at my record it looks like i was a dumb kid that made a few bad choices. I took the point class even tho it was not manditory and the -32 is because when your under 18 points double after first ticket. It's been a little over 2 years and ticket free. So what does that tell you? I was a dumb and inmature 17 year old
Just wanted to how you how the court process worked in PA, Check to see if there were any mistakes on the citation. I worked four years with the sheriff office. The only reason im tellin you to google it, is so you can reasearch and know how the process works and what to expect. Im 31 and I remember when I got my first citation and was askin the same questions, but i didnt have the technoloy we have now. FYI!!! Im talkin to rocafella2032 and not you other A**holes. Im not her to bash, but here to offer my experiance.
I have never dealt with the smoking end of things. But for traffic tickets in PA, when you plead not guilty, then will send you a court date. You show up (make sure to dress nice and be respectable) and wait to be called in. You go in front of the judge, he will ask you some questions, and then make a quick decision. Don't try to explain anything he doesn't ask you. Don't try to offer to show him your grades or whatever. Just state what happened and that you didn't mean to blow the light. Admit the pot only if it comes up. Basically, the judge is trying to get through a bunch of cases in a short time.
The cop may come to you before hand and try to plead it down. If that happens, take what he is offering. They do that so the judge doesn't have such a big case load. So if you deny their offer, they usually get ticked and put the screws to ya if possible. So take what they offer before the hearing, it is the best they are going to do.
i agree with that.. i've fought several tickets.. some cop didn't show up so case dropped.. one ticket was for doin wheelies on the rocket, there was four of us riding together and we all got tickets, three only did wheelies so we all fought it and all got off cuz they couldn't distinguish without a doubt who did it. other times i ate the ticket.. all at no extra cost
Yeah, most of the time, you have nothing to lose by showing up for a court date. My last one was for tinted windows. I showed up, sat in front of the judge, he asked a few questions, I answered honestly, he chewed me out a little, then threw the ticket out. I didn't pay a dime.
So basically show up and see what happens. But I think some people get themselves in trouble my thinking they can always get out of the ticket. Or that they can talk their way out of it. Or they know something the judge/cop doesn't. If you go in there with an attitude or notion of how things will go, they will nail you everytime on it.
4 pages of effin posts for a g-damn traffic ticket...
i dont know dude
yes u were wrong,
BUT your human and everybody will make mistakes.
and bring that stuff up from the start^
they might, might not release it
Trust me. Read what I said. Talk to whoever is representing the State (DA) or Assistant DA before court. Plead NO contest to charge and ask for reduction. The Officer will NOT bring up the smoking. IF he did he would have to explain why he did not do anything about it. The officer is not out to screw you over or try to throw you under the jail. He has already done his job. Issued the summons. Now it's up to the DA and the Judge. It never hurts to ask for a reduction. THe absolute worst case is you are found guilty of the original Charge. I deal with this all the time. NO big deal. As a matter of fact I have court the next two days. People are always coming up wanting to work out a reduction. It's not a big production, just go to the DA and ask...
Call your insurance agent and find out what 3 points does to you. I got 6 points (won 3 back in court) for speeding on my bike and my car insurance didn't find out (no rate change) and my bike insurance gave me a warning and lowered my rates that year. It may not increase that much. Look your best(no tux like Step Bros) plead not guilty or no contest and try to settle for the fine and no points. Hope that the officer doesn't show (they usually do all the court appts are scheduled together) or they sympathize the worst thing that can happen is you get 3 points which is the situation you're already in.
FFS... eat the ticket, be glad he didnt do a effin blood test and u didnt end up with dui/dwi whatever they call it where ur from... never , i repeat NEVER ever ever ever admit to a cop that u have smoked or that u smoke weed at any time.
Even though your ticket says three points, if you are like it is here, because you are a minor, it is actually double the points on your license. I am not sure if this is the case for you or not. Contact the courthouse office and ask to speak to whoever would be handling your case ASAP. Things are handled differently in different states, but you should talk with the DA or assistant DA to find out what you can plea it down to. They only know about what the ticket is written up as at this point and have not talked to the cop about your ticket and usually they do not until you get to court. Just explain to them that you would pay a fine if necessary, but dont want the points on your record and ask them what they can do to make that happen. Since this is your first ticket, they may be willing to work with you and you wont even have to go to court. It will only take a phone call or two and maybe a meeting with the DA. Call them and ask...you wont regret it. The worst thing that can happen is they say that they will not bargain with you and then you have to decide if you want to fight it or if you want to just pay for it. No matter what you do end up getting out of this, consider yourself lucky of what you actually got charged for and be thankful that no one got hurt.
