what are you talking about? you can't plead not-guilty until you go to court. if you want to take the points and the fine, plead guilty by paying the ticket BEFORE the court date, and you won't be summoned and it will be over with.

if you want to go to court your objective should be to have the POINTS dropped, not the ticket. that is...if the ticket even carrys points.

I doubt you would get the ticket dropped. I went through kinda the same thing...if you were charged with a pot charge then you could of fought that. But being a minor they may charge to the max, and i live in a pretty rural place and if you go to traffic court, the officer is there no matter what! And that could be VERY bad for you. They couldn't add any more charges but given the whole situation (that the judge won't know all of till the officer explains it) they may give you max fine and points and then you have court costs on top of that. It sucks big time man, but chock it up, and move on and pay it. Its been 3 years and 3 months since my last ticket...and it was a big one. My insurance just went down because of our baby finally, but you know what, Its not worth being dumb...even though you made a small mistake (which nothing againest smokers cause i've smoked my share) but it may have not happened if you weren't high. Learn from this and move on instead of getting in deeper. I've been so clean since "i learned" that I'm actually qualified to be an Ohio State Trooper which i'm currently persuing. Take it as learning from your mistakes and dont do it again lol

You can def beat it, with a lawyer. If your insurance is going to double then its worth getting a lawyer and he will be able to get it reduced to maybe just the fine. If you show up to court by yourself then no chance. And Im sure most ppl posting crap have done something stupid. Learn from it and move on.

I didn't get any charges affiliated with pot. The ticket didn't mention it at all. Nothing was given to me documented about it. And I'm not goig to court to fight the ticket. Just to plea about the points. I will gladly pay the ticket. Also, I will be representing myself. My job and grade credibility should help somewhat.

In NC, they usually light on first offenders. You can also use what is called a PJC "Prayer for judgment contiued". this makes the ticket go away unless you get a ticket within the next three years. DO NOT FIGHT IT! He will bring your creditability up when you fight it (Smoking)! You can also try to go to the clerk of court office and ask if you can speak to the DA-District Attorney so he can reduce it(plea bargin). If you cant use any of these options GET A LAWYER otherwise its going to cost you in the long run. When I ran a stop light years ago, I hired a lawer and he got it reduced to improper equipment. No points in NC. It you get tagged with that stop light violation you are goin to pay!!!

Ok. This IS something I know about. I would go in and plead "No Contest" Explain that you saw the green light, started through then realized it wasn't your light but you were already in the intersection and you kept moving forward to clear the intersection so you wouldn't get hit. You should bring up your good standing in school and grades. Basically throw yourself on the mercy of the court. You can ask It to be taken under advisement for six months and then have it dismissed if you get no more tickets. It doesn't hurt to ask. I'm in court twice a month dealing with the exact same thing.
    Lambokit to be built!!!!!

Wow, PA sucks! You really only have 2 options. Have a hearing or pay the ticket. From what I just read, there is no plea bargining for infractions....That sucks!

Been there. Never plead guilty. He made the big mistake by letting you go. What was your charge? If you plead not guilty, before the judge sees you to plead your case, the DA will come to you with a lesser charge. Plead guilty to the lesser charge. Don't go any farther than that! You won't beat it. When you plead not guilty, they will automatically come back to you with a lesser charge just so they don't have to dick with your pissy case. I've fought tickets and a misdemeanor charge the same way. Tried once to fight it all the way. Waste of time. I plead not guilty to ever ticket i've had. None have been settled with what was written........except the one!

73/55 not guilty. settled for 59/55 no points
64/45 not guilty. settled for 49/45 no points
77/55 not guilty. fought it all the way after declining 59/55. convicted of 77/55.
Criminal mischief. not guilty. settled for disorderly conduct. $50 fine! haha

You get the drift. You messed up by admitting guilt. He messed up by letting you go after smoking. When they offer you the bargain take it! Don't go any farther. They want your money...... that's all. Just give them a little less and go on your way. Tell me your charge and I bet I can tell you their offer.

Oh yeah, forgot the worst one. I got a DUI when I was 17, back in 02. BAC .097. Plead not guilty. Settled for reckless op. No suspension. $100 fine. 2 points. Beats a year suspension and that crap on your record.

Why do you keep stating that you have good grades, and a good job? That has nothing to do with court, they aren't going to look at your school records.

Seriously, you're taking this way out of proportion.

You are NOT going to win in court, and the officer will show up.

Pay the ticket, take the online 4 hour course, and be done with it.

You're going to wind up having to pay court costs, and for all you know the officer documented the fact that you were high, and will use that against you.

umm illegal left turn? wow, just take what the da offers no matter what it is. Your only defense could be a faulty light, which is what they will take into consideration. you are definately in the green! I honestly don't know what could be less than that. You were high! Failure to yield would probably be worse. You made out like a bandit here. But...... they will find something less than illegal left turn or just offer you the same charge. TAKE IT! Trust me here. I've never got a ticket like this. That's like a 66 in a 65. Your grades are good. Don't worry
