not true with pearl. A pearl can be a tri-coat of pearlescent. As in a shade of white pearl, a light purple pearl, and a darker gold pearl which is what the caddy looks like. Under that your base color which is a off white then your clear over all of it. The clear is never counted in a paint name. The Tri-Coat stands for just that for the pearl. A 65 Galaxie my dad did had 9 different pearls in it, on a white basecoat with 6 coats of Dupont urethane clear. That **** gets deep man!
