I know the 20 HP with an exhaust for a Camaro was an exmple. If dyno'ed, I doubt you would see that though.

HP and torque are hard to add to any engine. Torque being the hardest.

On my Vette, GM rated it 345 at the crank. After the mods I did to it and dyno'ed, the only way to know what you are making, I am getting 330 RWHP and 340 RWTQ. Not bad for what I did and bolt ons. Estimated engine HP at the crank now is 380.

I pride myself on all the work and 6 speed Vettes naturally make more HP then automatic Vettes.

    My engine mods are:

Z06 mufflers, which I really doubt did anything but take off weight. If anything under WOT, they flow better, at WOT only
Replaced the H pipe with an X pipe.
Polished and MAF screen removal, done weeks after dyno testing.
    K&N cold air kit.
    LS6 intake manifold.
    Running a stock tune still.

Sure a rear turbo would be real nice, but would I invest in that, nope!

I was told LS engines are tuned pretty well from GM to maximize power. I have read many people doing more to them, tuning the crap out of them and then start breaking things and making the engine unreliable. A guy at work just broke his LS engine in his 69 Firebird, the first time he took it to the track this year. He is CONSTANTLY tuning it, thus he will be breaking parts along the way. Sure his is making more power then me, but I just laugh and say speed costs, how fast do you want to go!

Cheap, Fast, Reliable. You can only pick 2 dont care what kind of car your talking about. Just boost the little V6 for a fairly cheap price. compare the new Ecoboost V6 from Ford, or the Direct injection 3.6 thats in the CTS and the new Camaro both make over 300 but use Direct Injection. Fords EcoBoost is almost the same but use a turbo to make like 365 in the new SHO. My point is the tech in those engines are what like 10 15 years newer? BTW DI engines make great hp/milage.

But require much more expensive fuel injectors and fuel system in general. Fuel lines have to be as strong as brake lines, and the pump? Have fun replacing that.

Fair enough. The thing is, will it ever get cheap? O2 sensors are still well over $100 at retail stores and they've been around for a while. Car audio decks must be the cheapest things to produce yet they're still selling models with no real features for $200 and well in excess of that.

TV's is another one, computers is another one. Tech never truly comes down in price because they always find a reason to keep the price up.

you're paying too much if you're getting O2 sensors for over $100. front one for me was $65 at autozone, back one was $75. the one for my s-10 was about the same

Thats why I can get an ac delco for $80 at cost Sure you can by cheap parts, but that is all they are cheap parts and will fail a lot sooner then good parts.

CHeap parts will generally last the regular maintnance period any ways but $80 for a delco one is still cheaper then 100

They probably did not meet ac delco standards to be sold at retail. A lot of companies do that. I do not go threw gm. I get them from our shop from a ac delco retailer.

from like a repair shop? i can understand that if you're talking expensive performance parts but this is just a sensor. replace it at 100,000, it lasts 100,000, and you have bigger problems at 200,000 than an O2 sensor. no real reason to pay double for a little part like that especially if you're not modding.

sparkplugs.com you can get Denso O2 sensor for under $50 shipped. There lead tolerant too and are actully faster switching than the AC/Delcos. I run em in both of my GPs with great success...

you pretty much just summed up your whole attitude towards this matter with that post.

then why are you comparing adding a $1000+ supercharger to a car like a camaro made to be fast?

i'm surprised i don't to be honest. there isn't a whole lot of street racing that goes on around where i live but there's a lot of people that make you wonder how they have their license. not to mention the douchebags that try to get to 60 between stop signs paying no attention to the 2 year old playing with a ball on the sidewalk.
