If I am mostly stock is having a open cone intake right in the engine bay hurting my performance and should I switch to a fenderwall, I know those are better but if the open cone is not hurting me i would rather just leave it.

its not hurting anything. You might gain the slightest amount with a fwi. Or you can just pop out the headlight

it wont hurt in comparison to a stock intake, but compared to an intake that will let the IAT see cooler temperatures youre missing out on a degree or two of extra timing. this can be tuned out, but seeing as how youre asking this question im sure you dont have a tune to accent your mods.

No I don't have a tuner, or know how to tune, just somebody told me that I was hurting performance by taking in all that hot air, and I would be better off with my stock air box, so obviosly that's not true. Thanks again.

Nope, open cone is MUCH better than a stock airbox. FWI would be a little better, but until you get one leave the open cone.
Stock airbox you have horrible flow AND warm temps, open cone gives you the BEST flow possible, you've still got the warmer temps, but it's an upgrade for sure.

open cone is better than stock, but it still wont perform as well as a fwi or a sealed box like the wizaired. open cone is good if you are intercooled or meth

rolling i see about ambendient temps for my iat's (open cone filter) but when i stop i see upward to 130+ degrese. after 104 it starts to pull timing.

    just something to think about.

and actually, ive had a wizair. did a good job. but the car pulled harder up top with the open cone. well it kinda depended on the season. summer time the wizair was better. but once it started getting colder, the open cone performed better. winter time the open cone pulls like a ***** up top. no restrictions, bends in the tubing, shorter distance to the filter.

Thanks again for the great info, I knew there was no way that a open cone was worse than the stock air box.
