Re: What Do You DISLIKE About Your Grand Prix?
I've changed 2 wheel bearings and the stupid ABS light wont go off and nothing comes up when I scan it. So why dont the stupid light go out? Foggy headlights. Side skirt on the front passenger coming off, but I just put super glue on it about 2 years ago and It hasnt fell off yet. But other than what I mentioned I love my GP.

You know that regular scanners can't read ABS codes right? The only ones that can cost a lot (GM Tech 2, Snap On). Unless you used one of those you won't get any codes. So don't throw any parts at it until you have something to go on. I've had my ABS light come on twice, both times it was the ABS computer (EBTCM) that went bad, not a wheel sensor. I had to have a dealer scan it for me and it cost $50. This last time I was able to make an educated guess (turned out to be a very good guess).
On topic. On the whole I really like my GP, but that isn't what this thread is about. I don't like the cheap interior with flimsy plastic everywhere in typical GM fashion and the lame plastic coated leather seats that are uncomfortable to boot. One of my pet peeves is the trend to not use any nuts or bolts in the interior. All of the freakin' plastic push pins/metal clips BS kills me. Give me some normal bolts please. I guess it is harder to hide, but it makes working on the car much easier and they don't tend to break all the time. Generally the squeaks and rattles which are annoying to track down and fix drive me nuts at times. That comes with age though.
This may in part be due to age also, but any chip in the paint causes an area of paint twice as large as the chip to separate from the primer. :th_depressed: Most people like the HUD but mine was too dim to read in the day even after applying the standard fixes so I removed it. Handling on these cars is pretty weak considering GM originally touted the sporty handling. I had a tricked out Camaro for my last car so that might have something to do with my disappointment. I guess I should mention the ABS system and it's tendency to have issues like I said above. I agree that I don't feel comfortable without oil pressure and volt gauges standard. It is sad GM was too cheap for that. RWD would have been nice but that is the sort of thing you should have known about when buying the car. The intake on the '97-'98 GPs was shameful. Fortunately that is easy enough to fix. Then there is the whole matter of the stock DP...Again, overall I am very happy with the GP. Most of my complaints are minor. I'd like to keep it for a while.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that the stock braking system leaves something to be desired too.

Re: What Do You DISLIKE About Your Grand Prix?
i've beaten the **** outta my car..surprised it lasted 6 years at 98k b4 dropping another engine in it...I loved modding the car, but i hate the cheap interior...meaning when you pull off the panels for the door, dash or any other panels a few times, it seems that they dont go back on tight anymore..thats sucks for when you want to customize more ****..
Re: What Do You DISLIKE About Your Grand Prix?
i hate finding sites like this that make me spend more $$$$ on my car...

Anyone who complains about the dash rattling in the GP, go buy a 21 year old Jeep. Ask me how I know.
Re: What Do You DISLIKE About Your Grand Prix?
I dislike how small our headlights are.
The oval shaped tail lights.
I hate the SE
I dont like the interior unless its a special, limited, or 40th ann.

I agree on the headlights and the se.
But I don't get why so many people hate the tails, I love em.

Cheep dash and interior components window switches come out, dash plastic brakes real easy if you have to take it apart
Re: What Do You DISLIKE About Your Grand Prix?
So now that we've all established what we don't like about it... how about why we like it or even have one in the first place?
Re: What Do You DISLIKE About Your Grand Prix?
My turn...
I second or third the handling. Boy was I surprised! My 07 Jeep Compass handles better, I give the GP a small break for 130K miles, but it is still weak. :th_thumb-down:
Headlights suck but so do my 98 Corvette. Must have been those years GM did not put much into headlight design! The headlamp bracket sucks too!
I second the small fog lamp bulb! The reason was probably engineering thought it was too bright for US roads, but it still sucks.
That dumb bracket in the way of the throttle body, making it hard to remove without bending the bracket out of the way! :th_scratchhead:
Service is always last on the list when designing a vehicle. :th_angry-teeth:

I hate the headlights. So much.
A friend of mine was actually just complimenting the handling on the GP yesterday, but then again he's used to pickups.

After driving a boat (figuratively speaking) for a year, it makes my GP seem like it has great handling. Still plows, instead of carves, through the corners if you try to push it.
The boat did have HID's however...
