he said he was computer retarded, and no offense to the OP, but a LAN server is a level above a simple backup drive.... dude jus needs a HD. lets keep it simple
Let me guess, you have a degree in comp science? AAS maybe? and yes it could mean you were running a website, key word being could, there was no mention of running websites, just a simple home server, in his HOME
im sorry, not trying to come across harsh there, i do apologize for that, my competitive nature shining through, i have been in the pc field for 15 years now and have been using them since i was 6... i tend to get in arguments when someones opinions differ from mine where pc stuff is concerned... again i apologize
so wausau huh? i used to live in wis rapids <--- hellhole
to the OP - go to bestbuy, grab a portable HDD preferably a 2.5 becuse thoes dont NEED power to work but some will only run at like 1.0 witout power kinda thing (seen it once or twice)
sadly i havnt been in the market for an external in some time so i dont know exactly what they do and do not need these days. But smaller the better, a TB would be great to have but trust me its hard to fill unless you have ALOT of porn lol
Working on a degree in Networking.
A home Server can be connected to the internet. A LAN server is just that, Local. And I was saying if he was inexperienced in pc's then running a system like could be hard because of security issues.
End of argument
WI is hellhole all together.
