Re: I cant stop drooling at this subie!
Wow this thread blew the **** up.
Im actually glad Iron said something about this...Ive seen it too in other threads, and comments and i completely agree with what Sabre is doing lately.

Just offering some advice...
Dude **** like this pisses me off...you did the same thing with the impala...
Don't get me wrong Sabre, you have helped me out with pm's and replies to my threads and I thank you for that especially when it came top-swap time. I understand you got a new STI but, dude don't let it get to your head. I like you around here, you have lots of knowledge on the W-body platform, just chill with the comments.
Re: I cant stop drooling at this subie!
Wow i cant believe what my thread about liking a subaru has grown into. Heres the deal. Sabre and ironindian u 2 are both of a great help to the community and both seem to be nice guys and have helped me out several times. i will say sabre that i have noticed u bashing our cars quite a bit since the new sti and i have to side with ironindian on this one. i have respect for u an your new subaru but i too agree that ur attitude could use a little adjusting when your on this forum. Bash our cars elsewhere please and remember that you too were once one of us. You too were an owner of a wbody so dont bash them like you never owned one and like they arent worth a **** cause you too dumped money into a 10 or so year old car idk exactly what year the impala was but it certainly wasn't a new car either. not too long ago you dumped quite a bit for a top swap your no better than anyone else when it comes down to spending money on an older car just cause u sold yours after you dumped the money in it. When u come around here just be of help like u always have before and your presence will be appreciated but if u keep going on in the way you have the past few days no one will want you around.

Re: I cant stop drooling at this subie!
though i think sabre may have been a little harsh in disproving JGTO10 and to g/ps..that is all he was trying to do i dont think he meant it has an attack or bashing on g/ps...i agree with him on the fact that our cars will not appreciate in value enless u can manage to keep one with super low miles for twenty years or probably more...i think he could have chosen his words better so as to not offend those of us w/ w-bodies..because i love mine and for the money it is hard to beat...but i am also not nieve and i know i will never get the money i payed for my car back...its just not a collectable car...not the w-body n e ways.
Re: I cant stop drooling at this subie!
How about everyone gets all the sand out of their vaginas and move on with the thread....especially you Shawn...because I know you'll need a pressure washer to get it all out. If I can't bash you in Branson...guess I've got to do it here. :D LMAO
I'm not taking the time to read Shawn and Sabre's posts but I can tell you all one thing...everyone has their own taste for cars and their own right to say what they want. Granted...some take it too far and things get out of hand...see page 2, you can't miss it. Shawn...your posts crack me up and you get as defensive as I do...way to keep up the slack when I'm too lazy to get on here LOL Sabre...dude, your a great help man, you've answered many questions for me and other people. Just don't get your head so far up your ass you can't see straight. I know getting a new car is awesome, I remember I thought I was hot sh*t when I bought my GTP...just don't let it take over your better judgment. Also think...you yourself just contradicted what you did not a few months ago...all that money you dropped top swapping your ALREADY MODDED L36 Impala...that makes A LOT of sense...I mean, since it was like a what...9 year old car or a little newer? Exactly. And for people that aren't even here yet, who have yet to get a W-Body...you were them once...didn't know what a Flipped Dog Bone was or a PLOG or ZZP DP...asking questions to the people who knew...just saying man...think about it.
Re: I cant stop drooling at this subie!
In the interests of peace and no further derailment, I won't even continue the argument. I'll simply avoid any negative comments about a GP and not mention the S-word or I-word. Thanks to everyone who PM'd me. I didn't really want to go, since despite what mr. stubborn thinks I do feel I have something to offer.
I'll just say that I've been saying the same things since I first got here about the GPs. I made it clear in my first few posts and have said it dozens of times since that I don't like their looks, how w-bodies are a dime a dozen, etc. But now that I don't own a w-body it makes it less acceptable? Okay.
If my current vehicle ownership makes those comments now offensive then I'll apologize. I don't feel my attitude or "tone" towards it has changed at all. Perhaps some people took some of my joking comments too seriously, but c'est la vie I guess.

Then shouldn't I be one of the premier people to comment on that? It was five almost six years old, and I realized my mistake after I did it. Sure, it was fun, at first. After that wore off and I realized how much money I just dumped into an aging car that could've gone towards something better, it made me feel like it wasn't worth it. That's my first hand experience on the matter. I guess I'm in a "learn from my mistake" mood...

You still don't get it, how many times does it have to be explained to you? Has nothing at all to do with you hating GPs, I could care less. Its you having the ass for W-bodies and making several comments.
Go re read the post above, you obviously don't get it. That or your head is still too far up your ass.

It wasn't joking, its you being a prick. Several have noticed it, not only me.

HAHA, your a premier member now huh? I thought I got the hint you thought high and mighty of yourself. Wow, owned a W-body for under 6 years and did a top swap and your god now? Wow.
Been around way longer than you and I don't think I'm a God. Your nobody dude, and so am I. Hate to burst your bubble there.
Wow, do you suck your own dick too thinking about how great you think you are?? :th_laugh-lol2:

Several have done top swaps and loved them. Because yours didn't go right or whatever doesn't mean its ****. Your solution, run away like a little girl. Infact, the biggest ***** I hear is not going Turbo sooner. You're about the only one I hear about *****ing about a top swap. Oh well opinions are opinions but that gives you no right to come on here and be a troll.
The whole point of this whole thing is, your coming on a forum about W-bodies, talking **** about them. Can you not see how you are in the wrong? Well i'm here to tell you, you are and you need to straighten up or think about getting off this forum. You are not valuable to this community if all you are going to do is bad mouth all w-bodies, thats the truth, take it or leave it...
Re: I cant stop drooling at this subie!
Re: I cant stop drooling at this subie!
^ haha joe i cant even begin to think about owning either as the moneys not there. All i want is the 5 spd awd an the joy of a boxer motor but really f*** it i love my gp too much right now to get rid of it. After finishing it i remembered why a few months ago when i was thinking of getting rid of it for a subie why i didnt do it. i like that car too much an have too many dreams for it to stop now. idc if its 10 years old i just did enough work to it that it should run for another 100000 miles as long as nothing else drastic happens

I said I apologize and I still get jumped on. Now who's being a troll/prick/douche? No worries, though. I'm out.

No, my solution is to be more fiscally responsible and invest in a newer car than dumping money into a 20 year old platform.

LOL... Here you go again not reading what was said. Yes, in your last post you apologized, then you went back to your ways again and I quoted you. Right out of the horses mouth, you being the horse obviously.
Don't try to make me look like the bad guy, your doing a fine job all by yourself...
LOL
Re: I cant stop drooling at this subie!
I fail to see where I insulted the w-body after I apologized, but I do see there is no pleasing you. Whatever. You get your way and I won't be around to be harassing anyone.
Re: I cant stop drooling at this subie!
In the end, aren't you spending more money then anyone else..?
Not to mention if you add more money "modding" it.
And man, I'm sorry but that car is just the worst Suburu ever created, just looks ridiculous.

After it's paid off, if past STI depreciation is any clue, I can still sell it for ~17-20k. I will have only spent 14-11k. Not to mention the assurance of a solid experience the whole time, warranty the whole time, included rental reimbursement, insurance deductible reimbursement, and 24/7 roadside assistance, I save even more by not having to put that stuff on my insurance policy. Add on top of that that it's a blast to drive and is in the top 3 for best handling cars sub $60k, and to me it was an easy decision.
I can sit here and rationalize it all day, go into details about how the Impala didn't fit my needs any more and why I needed to go to a car that I would not have to even worry about doing more than changing the oil to. But some just won't get it. I get compliments every day on it from random people, all age ranges, so I have no second thoughts at all about my purchase. I could have kept sinking money over the years into the Impala for repairs in a car that I was "content" with and just put up with the inconveniences as it would have issues (as any car would). Or I could go out and get a car that in my personal opinion is simply more fun. One that I sit there all day and think about driving.
The Impala was a great learning experience. I had fun with it, and for the most part, I am glad I got to meet all the people I have because I owned it. But I started to change my mind when I was faced with repairing all of my gauges, and then stuck with a minimum $400 bill just for parts from RockAuto (I could do the labor) to change my multi-function switch and get my brights working properly again. I realized it was time to move on before the tranny went, before I sunk money into new struts, bushings, etc. Just put that money into something that I would enjoy more. My car payment is easily less than what I was spending on the Impala + its monthly mod fund.
Friends of mine have had great luck with subies reliability, going to 200,000 miles with no major component changes. No gasket issues. Just oil changes, coolant changes, and gear oil changes. It's exactly the reputation I wanted in my head when I went for my first brand new car, and my first sporty car.
I'm sure none of this means anything to most of you (and I bet Shawn will nitpick this post apart), but I do respect most of you guys and hey I had to try. Some here seem to think suddenly I thought evil of my Impala and gave it the boot to the curb. I'll honestly say I felt the most loss for selling that car of any other car I've ever let go. I even drove by the work of the new owner a couple times since then just to see it. I don't hate w-bodies, contrary to popular belief. I simply understand their strengths and their weaknesses, and have always chosen to acknowledge both.
Peace out. Brian (Reptile), Dave, Scotty (if you ever come back and see this), 99prixgt, bluegtp91, Parker, minichopper, and even you Shawn, keep doing what you're doing. Good wishes, and sorry if I made an ass of myself somehow. It was not my intent. :th_peaceout:

Yeah, I can understand the warranty and all that.. I wish I had a car like that, I've owned over 10 cars.. and it's not that they were junk, I just like to change up more often then others.
Me being a ford guy, if I was able to afford a brand new GT500.. I'd be all over it in a heartbeat, and those sticker for 45k range.
It does get old and annoying having to fix issues all the time, and worrying "what's going to go wrong" Trust me, I know how that goes.
If it's what makes you happy, then whatever man, no one elses opinion even matters, suburu's are good cars, that particular one isn't my style, but overall they are cool cars.. and I would take one if it was cheap enough.
You don't have to "Leave" from one person bashing or arguing with you, who cares what he has to say man, he's not the boss.
And on the note about Track racing, 1/4 racing, ect... Racing is racing, any form and all forms take skills and balls, so gtfo of here with the 1/4 is the only real form.. because thats bull****, maybe other styles aren't your thing, but don't knock them.. because they take if anything MORE skill then going in a straight line.

LOL wow drama, should I cry or laugh? I think I'll laugh.
Its too bad you have to run away, but thats all your choice. I know your panties are in a wad because some of us told you about your BS. Appearantly you can't be an adult about the situation and be part of the community instead of against it. Thats fine and its all your desicion. You obviously can't take critizism well...

Thats right, i'm not the boss. Infact i'm nobody. But i'm not the only one that felt the same way, some have spoken up here. He obviously had to run away for a reason. But i'm not going to argue about that.

LOL, he was talking about his feeling about this subject, i was talking about mine. Simple as that.
I still stand behind my statement, If I wanna go fast around a corner I want something that will give me a challenge as stated in that paragraph, not something that will do it for me or designed to do it. Wheres the fun in that? Now that takes skill LOL. Seriously though, who cares.

Exactly.
To each their own <-- I don't know how many times I've said this already.
I personally enjoy every style... 1/4 is my favorite, but the other styles are fun and hard as well.
Esp on a bike.
