Sorry to hear that GTPjoe, when my gt went... i almost wanted to lay on the ground and like throw a little kid fit... Its almost like they are a part of us lol!! We will be praying for his/her safe recovery!!
Sorry to hear it joe. Welcome to my world man. i start tearing mine apart again next week. i would this week but have to wait till i can get a picker and an engine stand since i dont have one an im not using my neighbors garage again i dont like being supervised the whole time im trying to work. ive got an engine in my garage thats fine. if u need anything get ahold of me im tryin to get rid of it. its only got 82000 on it an seems to be in good condition. Good luck with the repairs. Keep us updated
im currently under gtp right now typin this.. im takin the oil pan off theres 4 pain in the ass bolts "passengeer side how do i get em without taken the mount off!????!?!?!?? and yes pray guys and now shes not a guy car shes my ***** my naughty nagging ***** lmao
i had that mount unbolted an lifted the engine a bit for a little more space. Then use a wobble and an extension an u should be able to reach it. If not from under. take the pass tire off an go in from the side with a wrench. i think i went the wrench route coming off with it an the wobble going back on. not sure. Also ur gonna have to pry the pan down if ur tryin to do it in frame. watchout! ha i almost broke my nose doin it cause the pan flew down an smacked me in the face. mom made me go to the hospital an get it xrayed lol
Aw, think positive. You probably just **** a crank sensor off.
greg if your right im going to come to your house and detail your car IM IN ILLINOIS lmao haha
callin it a night its 130 here... i dont want to wake parents. anyways yeahh im just now stuck at the pan bolts that are behind the mount.. my dad n dads buddy are comin home 2mrw night to help with the tear down so itll be easier with 6 hands probably.. was it a good thing that i took the dogbones out already so i can get engine play?
Not a prob at all. i took those out. first thing!
i was just nervous like if i take the lower mount out isnt that the only thing holding the engine in the car?? this is what im wondering and why i stopped..... ha any ideas guys? you guys so far are very very helpful and im glad im a regular on here haha even though i get ripped on because i cant type w.e were a group thanks again every1 thats helped and will help along this journey.. ha
That's messed up this is the same day my last car burned to the ground last year at walmart
and that has what to do with me? lol that sucks though man SO GUYS ME PULLING OUT THE MOUNT SINCE THE DOGBONES ARE OUT WONT F UP THE ENGINE OR FALL ??
Sorry about your car...good luck with it.
Like I said in the comment I left you, you can have my engine when I put a LS4 in her ;p
ahhh noooo that sucks my friend good luck with the tear down.....hopefully something simple....
If you pull that mount, yes, the engine falls and rests on the mount.
Your best thing at this point is pull the passenger tire and try to turn the motor back and forward by hand. If it won't move at all, get those last four bolts off because you'll need to do something creative to get the crank to turn in order to get the flexplate to torque converter bolts in order to pull the motor. If you can't, then you will want to pull trans with the motor, then slide the trans off and unbolt the converter. This would be needed because if too much pressure is applied on the converter to trans, you can break stuff in the trans.
My suggestion is with the other guys. Pull the motor and figure out how bad it is. From the sounds of it, your motor is shot. Cheapest way out is usually car-part.com or a friend. Find a replacement motor in as complete of a state as possible and drop it in. While it's nice to consider a cam, L36 block for more compression etc etc, all those things cost money for gaskets and parts. From the sound of it you need a low cost engine to get the car moving again.
Well...as long as he sticks with the stock pulley he should be fine as a GT High Compression Bottom End is most of the time cheaper than a low-comp L67 one IMO. Good luck Joe...quit messing around with the oil pan and pull her out the top.
update guys my dad is at work but he was talking to his buddy and thinks maybe the supercharger locked up and a gear inside sheered or something...? whatever we will figure it out tonight
i guess if this is the case time for a gev 5? lol
