Well, I was doing something for work online and recently I changed my phone service to DSL only.
So.....I wondered what my IP address was since AT&T screwed up and my internet it was down a week. I ended up fixing what they broke.

What is my IP address? Find my IP number

I found my IP address at the above link and at the top of that page under "Domain Tools" there is "Query Spam Block Lists", so I entered my IP address.
Out of 8 spam block lists my address is on 5 ????
To pinpoint my IP address, I entered my address again and my address is located in Texas....I'm sitting in Connecticut writing this so that's not right.
Who knows anything about this internet IP configuration stuff??
I know SBC/AT&T is based out of Texas but shouldn't my address show up a little bit closer to CT?
So what do you guys think?....I would call AT&T but when I do I can't understand what they say since the calls are routed to India or Pakistan somewhere.

You guys try it and see what you come up with.

your cool it is just because they are located down there that you are probably tracing back to the central servers for the WAN. I doubt you have been hacked and that would not trace you back down the the original servers if you had been hacked. If anything else funky happens let me know, because i own a IT business and am pretty knowledgeable about networks.

so why does a different IP address show up in my network settings is it because I'm going through a wireless router? or should they be the same?
Why would it show up on blacklists for spam?

If you're behind a router, each computer is assigned an internal IP address, usually in the 192.168.xxx.xxx range. These are internal only, non-routable addresses. The router is what would have your real IP address.

did networking work for about 7yrs got out of it aaggghhhh. I dont think your hacked. you may have some spyware i dont know what you have for protection. but a good program i have used to fix alot of machines is superantispyware it has a free version and dont interfear with antivirus programs that you may have. you can get it at superantispyware.com if you do just install update and do a full scan.

yea from the post above he is on the same page as me with the fact that you are running from an internal ip address on a 255.255.255.0 subnet most likely so you are probably fine it just depends on what the website you used was picking up either external or internal address
