mine was about 7-8in and you could see the food flying out his gills when he ate. if he ate a gold fish or something, scales would go EVERYWHERE out of his gills. there alot like oscars, very messy. maybe yours aint that bad.

but if the convicts are spitting food out and not eating what they spit out, that left over food could be the cause for the cloudyness, or it could just be over feeding. a crab or a catfish could fix that problem

Tried the catfish...he got pwned by the Green Terror LOL

Crab...they die too quick IMO, buddy had at least 3 in the few months. Maybe it was just him though...as for the over feeding...I don't THINK so...I feed them until 1 or 2 pellets are left floating on top then I know they are done and just pick them out and toss them.

hahahaha, ralphie catfish come in a decent size, maybe that would help. i have one and its kinda gangster, chops down on some worms. ive had crabs for a while now. they have to be able to get out of the water at some place and they need a place to hide. they molt and shed there skin to grow and when they do they are very weak and any fish could kill them. if they have those two things they seem to last a while.

is the green terror like an oscar??? also if the crab is not a decent size the jack dempsy my try and eat it, mine at one that i had for 6 months, i really dont know how he ate the damn thing, it was not all that small. found a claw laying on the bottom one day, yup, got em

Green Terror's get their name for their color...and well...Terror...kinda self explanatory LOL...pic...

    http://www.fishchannel.com/images/ar...ichlid-200.jpg

I was thinking about jacking one of the catfish from Cabela's that weigh about 20 or so pounds...figure that would settle things out Pretty sure whatever I get is either a Sucker or a Cichlid...anything else has been mince meat...the Terror even pwned my last Tiger Oscar I bought and I had to take it back to the store because it was about to get killed from the Territorial-ness of the fish I have.

Thinking about a Shop Vac and put a filter on the bottom of the vacuum and let it just fall back in the tank...like a nice closed circuit!!

6 horse should take care of the BIGGER issue I think

Those are great...only issue is mine isn't an in wall and I've got no space for a tub like that since the tank itself since on an actual dresser set from my room...removed the mirror behind it so I didn't have to either build a stand or buy one...figured since it is solid cherry piece of furniture that I have since birth it'll hold whatever I tossed on it LOL

I'll go to PetSmart tomorrow morning since I have a short day at work and pick up a bigger filtration system...since I ain't driving the car I don't have to worry about the gas money fund

ahh, yea just run both filters. i have found that it helps if the filter pick up is close to the bottom, picks up all those little debries that normally float near the bottom.

BlueGTP.... 1 Pleco only! The Pleco is the dirtiest fish you have in your tank. Also once they hit 3 inches or so, they stop eating the algae. My enjoy sucking around on my driftwood. Also they love vegetables, especially peas. I throw some peas and green beans in the tank and he's always eating it.

I just lost my Black Ghost Knife yesterday. I'm so damn disappointed. Do you have any live plants? I have a bunch of plants and it help to keep the water clean. I also do a 25% water change on Tuesdays, and a 50% water change on Fridays.

This is a great site by the way. AqAdvisor - Intelligent Freshwater Tropical Fish Aquarium Stocking Calculator and Aquarium Tank/Filter Advisor This guy has been working extremely hard putting this site together and it is amazing. Test it out and use the juvenile sizes and what not.

If you have issues with the green terrors, try Pictus Catfish and get like 6-10 of them. They need to be in groups. The terrors might leave them alone because the Pictus are very sharp and scaly. Do NOT use a net on them though because they will get stuck in it. I spent a good 10-15 minutes trying to work him out of it. I eventually had to cut the net and he swam around with it on for a day before it fell off. I cut my finger working on him too. He survived and is thriving in my tank. They are very very active and really make the tank move.

No algae in my tank as I have Marimo Moss Balls. They fight for the same nutrients as the algae and most definitely win.

Plants I have are floating hornwort, anubias, bamboo staks, java ferns, and some other stuff. Next week I plan to add some red plants.

My tank is overstocked but I have heavy filtration and I clean the water often.

    5 x Iridescent Sharks
    6 x Pictus Catfish
    6 x Angelfish (2 x Black Veil, 2 x Marble Veil, 1 x Koi, 1 x Gold)
    3 x Cockatoo Apistos Dwarf Cichlids(Triple Red) (non-aggressive Cichlid)
    1 x African Knifefish
    1 x Gold Nugget Pleco
    2 x African Dwarf Frogs
    1 x Betta

I have no problems with the Betta being around the Angels and Cichlids. He just chills in all my floating plants.

Both my Female Cockatoo Apistos, my 3 Apple Snails, my Freshwater Clam, and my Black Ghost Knife have passed in the tank. Not too bad.

It depends on the pleco, the rubberlip, rubbernose, bristlenose ect are true algae eaters and will also leave live plants alone and NEVER lose their taste for the algae. Also pleco's arent really that dirty more catfish like once the larger specimens get older and larger.

One pleco still at 18" produces far less waste err bio load on the system then a single comet goldfish.

I keep a single rubberlip in my 52g planted as well as twin Siamese algae eaters and corydoras. I recommend SAE's over any algae eater as they do develop a taste for fish food they are also very very tedious cleaners and produce the same bioload as a single guppy does

    my stock list
    52g
    12 angels 2 adults 10 juves
    30 cardinal tetras
    18 or so corydoras
    1 RNP
    2 SAE's
    25 black "kuhli's"
    1 electric blue ram
    1 german blue ram
    6 assassin snails

    40g tall
    hundred or so guppies
    5 pygmy corydoras
    1 SAE

    45g tall
    7 glolight tetras
    20 cardinal tetras
    6 albino corydoras
    2 SAE's
    6 discus(3 blue diamonds,3 golds)
soon to be 1 sae and 6 discus.

    15g QT tank
    10g snail tank

    210g tank for the discus
