Well, ive been having thoughts lately of selling the beast... I dont know if im loosing interest in the grand prix... or all the money i have dumped into this car just pissed me off. Ive been thinking about the 2002 trans am WS6 before i even got the grand prix years ago.. I have already found a beautiful T/A WS6 with 30k miles with a catback for a hell of a price. I got a rough estimate of how much i could demod the car for... and I also checked up to see the price of the Twin turbo kit/heads/cam/Trans would cost and i would actually have a few G's left in my pocket to put $$ towards the 40th anni grand prix. as you all know i have a TON invested into this car, and ALL the parts have 500 miles on them. The car itself only has 35k on it... Alot of polished pieces, hell of a paintjob, hood/spoiler, bullitts wrapped in Eagle F1 GSD3 Maybe i just miss driving the car.. but i think since i have the 40th anni I could enjoy a nice Turbo'd V8... I dunno im in sadness and confusion right now... haha. I'd like to hear everyones thoughts, because the LS1 trans am will outlast the beast anyday since its an all around stronger. AND the trans is alot easier to work with!

Sucks, I went through the same thing with my last grand prix and here I am again, if you do atleast you have another one. I have enjoyed following your progress on the car, so I wish you good luck with whatever route you take!

Krikey, I dont know I could even consider parting with a car after putting as much as you have into yours. Though, I must admit, I would have a VERY hard time saying no to a WS6 equipped Firebird or Trans Am. That would always trump all others in my book.

Get the TA!!!! But make sure you have a "winter" car to drive. I took my TA out of the driveway last year just so I could get to our pickup. The TA was stuck out in the street for 2 hours. ALL of our neighbors came out to help us push it back into the driveway. Um, we didnt get the truck out either
I have both and I only drive my GP in the winter, when I HAVE to. You can't go from a V8 to a V6. I still love my GP though. GET BOTH!!!

Yeah, I have a 40th anniversary grand prix as my daily, and then the beast incase some people misunderstood. I am leaning towards the TA and drop the stage 3 heads and cam on there with the custom turbo kit all from SpeedINC. then toss some torque thrust rims on there with suspension and trans work... and call it a day. but im on a toss up right now.

the WS6 would be nice... but come on, man. who HASNT seen a nice WS6? ... but your GTP w/ insane turbo setup you have now? that's just sick, and you dont see that a whole lot... it's more unique...

if you demod and sell it, i'd venture to say that you'll end up regretting it.

Drive it some more and the urge will go away.

    Trust me been through it.

Us heavily modded guys have all been through this... my car's spent the last 4 months sitting.. I was thinking about swapping my Integra ! and then my buddy got his 400whp@12psi Comp G back and then I was back into GP and now planning a 24 hours work weekend on my slut....

I think its just the time of year. I have had thoughts about selling on and off so many times. Im getting very itchy right now. I have thought about selling my Cobra for months now and get a new full size pick up and mod it. I say stick with it and see how you feel in the spring. Im sure you could always find a buyer for your car any day of the year. I agree with the above statement your car is more unique than most WS6's. Sure the WS6 is a very nice car! Hard choice to make regardless. Good luck!

NOOO!! You already know my opinion of your GP though. I have tried to leave multiple times and have NOT owned a GP for a total of 2 months since 1999 and had others before as well. They always come back! On the other hand you have the 40th and I have always loved the WS6. Can't think of too many people I'd picture owning the BEAST. I'm sure spring will bring it back for you. Let me know what you decide to do. I'm gonna have an opening in my garage later this year. Make a good "company" car.

    Good luck! Beautiful/Brutal car.

    You demod/sell it, your banned!

    J/K

Sleep on it for a while. Might be glad you did, cause you might want to end up keeping it.

I was looking forward to kickn your butt at the track this year. honestly, I would keep the GTP. WS6's are a dime a dozen....yes they can make power, but they BREAK a lot of stuff. this is why I sold the camaro. I couldnt keep a trans in it, or rearend(I snapped a moser12 bolt, and 3 10bolts)

LS1's are not unbreakable. rods go, main bearings spin.....in all honesty..the 3800 is THEE best engine.

if you keep the GTP....you have a race

if you turbo a WS6.......you have a race with my S10

    my opinion. keep the car.

yeah, i would miss the car insanely! but.. Everyone knows for a fact i would save if i switched over to the WS6... the power is easier to reach, the sound is amazing..(so is mine but still) the T/A just looks mean..(if you couldnt tell by my car) The trans will last so much longer than any grand prix trans would... other good things would be... i could transfer my tinted tails/black headlights/HID's/fogs over to the 40th... even wheels and lowering springs! then sell off all the other items... i have already priced the stuff out.. and is well under cost of what i paid too.. but we shall see where i end up.

You will cry if you sell the GTP.

I have owned 5 birds of various years. They are good for something. Ornaments. The 79s were great lawn ornaments and money guzzlers. The other one, well, let's just say it was easy enough to disassemble and leave it at that.

I get more comments and compliments on my 9 year old GTP than I ever got with any of the birds. On a side note, the camaraderie in the local GP community is much greater than the trans am. I mean, sure I complain when something little breaks on her, but it's always something fixable.

My GP will more than likely be my coffin. I have yet to find anything I like better. Well except maybe Mike Vaughan's new caddy. That looks like loads of fun to drive. However, it is against my religion to spend the same amount of money on my mortgage and car payment, so that's a NO.

Shaun (I know I probably butchered the spelling there... sorry. ) -

If you are thinking about a de-mod, let me know the specs on your trans.

Good luck with whatever you choose. The GTP is sick as ****, but so are Turbo LS1's. :-D

My buddy's trans am just sits in his garage, everytime he gets it out no one will race him or he breaks something... its a small town.

If it was my car, I would wait it out until you at least break it in over the summer. You have plenty of time to decide plus the car is pretty much new, you could put 8,000 miles on it and people would buy your parts for the money you want. I'd rather have a car that's not supposed to do something wicked than have a wicked car and make it faster. I think you'll have more thrills in the gp. Life sucks right now becuase its -10 out, don't punish the gp for it!

Either way its your decision, I think a turbo T/A would be badass but you already have a badass car.

Thats why you go with a ford 9" and get rid of the stock rear end in the TA.

Either way it will be a tough decision and you will be spending even more money into the TA. Even with the demod and bla bla bla, your gonna take a loss. You might as well sell the engine as a whole and buy another short/long block to drop in. That way you can say its a 500HP engine with an X speced turbo kit.

Yup thats what i was planning on doing. But Wrong with the money you spend on the TA is more... lol i can get a fully built 850whp turbo'd T/A for $7,300 with the extra money i have i can finish suspension and buy torque thrust wheels, some street drags, just a whole bunch more than what i did with the grand prix. Also the WS6 can be picked up for about 14k with anywhere from 25-35k miles on it. now that is just sweet to me. The car would seriously outlast the grand prix any day of the week when it comes to the trans at the same power level.

    to answer the trans question.
    Dynotech/W-body store trans
    Gm 1" chain 3.29 gearing
    300m input shaft
    output shaft
    Hardened 4th clutch shaft
    brand new clutches
    shift kit
    3250 stall
All of that cost me $3,400 or so... i have to look at my reciept. Also the warranty is still good on it! I was looking around $2,850 for the trans and i would probobly just take yours so its less of a hassle.(depending on milage)

I have NEVER had any problems with my TA. The GP, it's always something. I race alot! I've lost once, to a Trans Am from out of town(modded). It was fun though! I've been trying to race my friend in her GTP. She keeps telling me she don't know how. I'll get her though Is there anyway you can keep this GP and get the TA? You can never get out of a car what you put into it. Plus, I don't know what size town you live in, but I couldn't see someone else driving around in "my" car. If I sell one, it's goin far away
