Anniversaries I truly understand, that is a sacred date and should be cherished. Christmas on the other hand, as cherished and sacred as that date is has for the most part lost its true meaning to many. Im sure there are many theological discussions that could be had on the matter, but if you boil it down to its basics, apart from the celebration of the birth of Christ, it is also the time to show good will to others, taking the time to help others in times of need, those less fortunate and so on. And frankly, I dont need a holiday in order to do that. Honestly it should be a way of life, a point of consideration every day of our lives.
Too many times we give and hope that that action develops a rapor or favor we can call in later or we help with thoughts of what it will get for us or that later we can cash in on that to get help ourselves and so on. Truly, if we did such things without such considerations, without keeping scores or tabs or any such thing then our society would be infinately better than it is.
