Anniversaries I truly understand, that is a sacred date and should be cherished. Christmas on the other hand, as cherished and sacred as that date is has for the most part lost its true meaning to many. Im sure there are many theological discussions that could be had on the matter, but if you boil it down to its basics, apart from the celebration of the birth of Christ, it is also the time to show good will to others, taking the time to help others in times of need, those less fortunate and so on. And frankly, I dont need a holiday in order to do that. Honestly it should be a way of life, a point of consideration every day of our lives.

Too many times we give and hope that that action develops a rapor or favor we can call in later or we help with thoughts of what it will get for us or that later we can cash in on that to get help ourselves and so on. Truly, if we did such things without such considerations, without keeping scores or tabs or any such thing then our society would be infinately better than it is.

Amen, and sorry Terry pretty heated topic lol. But I completely agree I never have, or never will understand why people need to "show" how much they care about someone on one particular day. I always take the gf out for dinner and buy her clothes and other things. But then on vday its like all hell breaks lose when I say I didn't get anything.I don't understand it, I tell her I do these things all year long but don't want to on this day to make a point of how stupid it is, and I'm out on my ass for the night

But I guess in this day and age where everything is judged by what you own, what you give, and what you do it will never change.
