Hey guys I have read a butt load of threads and there is so much conflicting things. For starters is it safe to use nitrous through the blower? Would a dry shot be better to use through the blower if gas/e54 would eat the rotors? Finally would a 50-75shot be fine to use on a regular basis without causing damage to the rings or anything as long as it is tuned correctly?

Yes, it's safe. It's just a gas once you spray it.

A wet shot is more parts and pieces and if you only want a small amount it's not even worth doing a wet shot. Plus prices on NOS are through the roof still, stupid amount of money to fill a small bottle that doesn't last very long.

So your saying its better to do a dry shot if in running a 50-75 shot? Do you know anything about gasoline eating the rotors? Ya its $6.50lb here in AZ which seems pretty expensive but if I do get on the spray it would be a special occasion only kind of thing. Like at the track or racing a buddy etc.

Yeah a dry shot is all you need if you only want a little bit, there is no need for a wet shot on such a small amount.

I wouldn't run gas or E85 through the rotors but that's just me.

Ok cool thanks for your advice. I know everyone says wet kits are better but I was wondering if a dry kit would be ok with a smaller shot and then I don't have to worry about the gas eating the rotors. 😀

The main reason people say wet kits are better is because you can also control the amount of Fuel added when the Nitrous is applied. This is the main thing that will either make your motor survive or melt it down. Extra fuel needs to be added whether through the injectors/tune or a separate solenoid. I have used Nitrous on a Car since 1990, just never with a Fuel Injected car, but the principle is the same, with added Oxygen, you need added Fuel. Take a look at the Big Boys running Nitrous and Fuel Injection, even they're using separate Nitrous/Fuel solenoids one for each cylinder. I do believe though with the small amount you're talking it could easily be done with a dry shot and the right tune and capable injectors.

I think if you are running E85 or whatever the mixture of ethanol is I would run a dry shot because you would need an ethanol specific jet for a wet nitrous kit. I've been thinking about doing a dry nitrous kit injected through the blower case. The only good spot I've seen to inject it is on the backside close to the spot where the throttle body bolts to the blower. at some point, no idea when, I would like to do a dry nitrous kit.

your other option would be to do a methanol injection kit. you should be able to get one of those for 425, but nitrous will likely make more power, it would just cost more. pure methanol is like 4 dollars per gallon, but then you dilute it to 50/50 using distilled water. I can say that methanol works very well. the kit manufacturer claims about 20% more horsepower.

Is there even a point of running methanol with e85? I have thought about it because I thought it would still provide a cooler charge and I thought it would help cool the intercooler too, but other people told me it would be minimal gain with e85

Is it worth the $$ though? Were you able to run a smaller pulley or anything?

i run meth with gas. went from a 3.2 to a 2.8 and added timing too. i just got real meth with a true 50 50 mix and it let me add 3 more degrees of timing.

it does keep the blower cooler too. with the ic only after a pass at the track you could fry a egg on it. this last time out with meth you could lay your hand on it and leave it there, it was only warm.

I'm running a 2.6 pulley and either 18 or 20 degrees of timing, I don't remember for sure.

Well I feel like I'm already pretty maxd out I'm on a 2.8 and 18*. I was always under the impression its not even worth dropping below a 2.8 thanks to parasitic loss

Ok. Or instead of adding hp to a car still on a stock trans I could get coilover since my **** Eibach springs are sagging in the rear, or I could buy swiggles cowl hood since my stock hoods paint is cracked with crows feet and faded.

Or spray it. You aren't going to hurt the rotor coating. I've sprayed about everything under the sun through an m90, and 100k miles later, the coating still looked great. And the trans....use some common sense and they will last.

Nitrous is awesome for power. It does cool the air charge as well. Not as good as meth, but enough to pick up about an extra 30whp from just cooling alone. A 75 shot one these cars will gain you over 100whp.

I'm getting very tempted to do this. Ill have to buy a tuner again since I sold my old one. An 11.5 afr is probably to lean to run a 50-75 shot through right?

11.5 is fine. Shoot for the same afr using nitrous as you would without.

I would go with a wet shot. Most solenoids will support 150 shot if you want to turn it up more. And, you will.
