you shouldn't drop pulley sizes until you have all your exhaust mods done first. IMO put that 3.8 pulley back on, get at least a plog or headers then put that 3.4 on and shoot Will at overkill an email for your pcm reflash

well when they tap into the pcm and do custom tuning, i sometimes call it a pcm reflash. yeah either one is good, you need to do a "security relearn" and a "case learn" after you put the new one in.

your going to still need to do a "case learn" with a tech 2

not if you have the tool to do it. When i called the dealer to ask how much $$ it was going to be, he said something like $200. Instead i bought an aeroforce gauge and did it myself. You could do it with a tech2, just plug it in your OBD2 port and follow intense's directions.

My 2003 GTP was F**KED by ZZP at least 4 times...sent the PCM back and forth and they ended up refunding me the money but it was too late...

MY MOTOR^^ End of story...and I wouldnt say modding was an issue...as I had a 160* T-Stat, Autolite 104's, 3" DP, No Cat, Res. 3" Custom Exhaust, CAI, ZZP PCM, 1.84RR, 3.4" MPS...and other pointless BS...so I recommened their PCM's if you like to rebuild motors as no one over there knows how to tune sh*t...plus the customer service blows big wind...dont even get me started there...shipping might be fast but god forbid if you have to call them
    Sold WBody's: '03 Blue GTP/'98 Green GTP/'98 Silver GT/'05 GXP
    '99 Chevrolet Silverado Classic Z71 4x4 - K&N Intake/Gibson Exhaust #TRUCKTHINGS

There could be a few reasons why you chipped a piston... How do you know it was the pcm for sure?

I have a powrtuner I tune with and have played with intense's, zzp's and dhp's .bin files. The best way to tune is to start from scratch, sometimes looking these over to get hints.

I would also take the 3.4 pulley off until you get some exhaust mods, with headers and a 3.4 I still was gettin 5+kr on a intense's tune at the time.

Find someone in your area with a tuner.

Powrtuners go for less than $300 now, and its a one time fee pretty much. That is if you have a laptop, but you can get a cheap one also, i only use this laptop for tuning and web browsing so its the bare minimum and works great.

He got 3 PCM's from them when he first bought his car....and they were all stuck in "read/write" mode. He didn't know much about the cars when he bought the pcm. When I looked at the scan, his spark tables were set entirely too high and his fuel was set to a lean AFR command.

The picture doesn't show the true damage, it spiked the fuel curve, and broke the skirts off of the piston. When he finally demanded his money back after the last one, he had to get really crappy with them to get the refund.

Now granted, this was back when they first started doing their own tunes, and in all honesty should not have been selling them just yet. Now they may have gotten better, I'm just not a fan of their PCM's.

Well im glad someone posted about this! Im sure reading you guys know I have a 2007 gp. You can not tune a 07. I called ZZP and they are willin to ship me a 05 PCM and if it works good if not they are willing to give me back a full refund and will even use my 07 as a core.I got on overkills website and all I seen was for a 03 and under. I sent a e-mail asking if he does the 05 and still havent got nothing back. As far as the other place you listed im going to look at there website right now! But thanks to the OP this helped me too!!

EDIT: Just got the e-mail from Will!! sooo so far im leaning towards him.

Ya, I have heard that was the only problem and I can live with that! lol. And I got his e-mail!! I was in bed sick all last night and for some reason it put his e-mail in the junkfile! lol. But I got it!!! Im new to the whole having to buy a WHOLE NEW ecm. So Im not sure really what to do. Im not sure if I need to buy one and eat the core charge. Or should I get one from a junk yard. I found one for 75 at a local junk yard. But I think I would have to have it unlocked. Do you know if he can unlock them?

if an 05 pcm works in your car, then you can get one of those and tune it yourself or have it dyno tuned. then no need to swap it out (besides what you already did)

the reason for swaping out pcms for vendor pcms is because people dont want to tune themselfs or dont know how. its a little easier.

stock pcms are not locked. if its locked not much you can do about it, i guess who ever locked it would have to unlock it.
