    Who here brews their own?

Built the keezer almost a year ago and finally got around to picking up a 10 gallon megapot with the thermometer and ball valve along with two fermenting buckets, a bottling bucket, strainer, 1/2" by 50 foot copper wort chiller, heating belt, 220,000 btu burner etc. Figured there had to be other brewers on the forum to chat with about this new hobby.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

i have debated it a few times, but feel as though i'd rather just buy already existing beers for consumption.

I've brewed a little, but I'm impatient and impulsive. So I no longer have the stuff. Lol

I was doing it many years ago. Not at home, but at one of the many breweries in town. Was worth it for sure, but I don't drink that much anymore, so I gave all my bottles away.

Interesting to hear the thoughts etc. Maybe I only do it for a while, figured it would be a neat little hobby to get into that didn't require a 10mm wrench all the time and could be done at my convenience.

Ordered up a couple of ciders, waiting for good shipping deals to do the rest.

Received the apple cider and blueberry cider kits.. there's no real brewing here.. pour one gallon of boiling water into fermenter with sugar, top with another 5 gallons of water and ....done. Hmmm that's easy enough.

I've decided that I want to do this also. Been looking on Craigslist to pick up used things on the cheap, just in case it's not something I end up doing full time.
I have a few friends that brew, and they say that it's like cars....you start off fiddling around with brew kits, then eventually get hardcore into it. I don't know anyone that brews that doesn't like it.

Maybe we can swap tips and recipes etc when we get going.

I went to a buddies place when he was brewing up an extract kit. Aka no mash and no full blown day to do one brew. There were some hops and the extract etc. Which seems to me like a good place to start and gain the confidence. Then as I move forward maybe mash some grain etc, like you see where it goes.

I'm waiting on Northern Brewer or Midwest Supplies to do some free shipping so I can pick up the pale ales etc and basic beers so that I can mix up say a blueberry ale. Black Friday has some good deals if you need certain things to be new.

I've never had a home brew that I enjoyed, so 5 or 6 years ago I took up winemaking. most of my wine is 17% or so by volume.

Ok.. The supplies arrived, I mixed up a batch of apple cider. While that's carbonating, we had a great day to brew up a simple pale ale.

Now I am looking into aeration..

    Time to update.

I have bought a bunch more stuff, more beer kits etc. etc etc. At the moment three things are in fermentation.

Due to wanting some stuff to condition longer and prep for boating season I was hoping to pick up some bottles. Scored over 200 of the Grolsch swing top resealable bottles free off Craigslist. Few hours (like 8) they were all cleaned up and ready to be used. Then it was kegs, I had two... clearly that's not enough. Picked up four more. Guy gave me a great deal when they were $55 on CL and he said he's do "4 for $45 each so that's $170". I handed over the 170, refused the closet full of bottles he was offering for free and motored on.

This leads us to today.. I poured a flavoring packet into a blueberry cider and poured myself a coffee stout as that packet built up quite the thirst.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
