Laptop Help - TouchPad Not Working

I know there are some computer guru's on here......

I just bought a new laptop from TigerDirect; Asus X751LAV w/ Windows 10 64bit. Fresh out of the box, the touchpad didn't work. After a few days of messing with it, I have found that the touchpad doesn't even show in the Device Manager. I have uninstalled and re-installed all drivers pertaining to the touchpad, and nothing.

Apparently this is a known problem with Windows 10 and this touchpad, but I can't find a solution. If I can get the touchpad to show in the device manager, I know where to go from there.

TigerDirect wants me to return it, but I don't want to. Any thoughts?

return it or use a real mouse.

I am using a real mouse, but the touch pad needs to be operative. Still trying things, but it looks like it my be getting returned.

Did you try Settings>Mouse and touchpad>additional mouse options>ELAN tab>Enable Elan touch pad?

I would if I could. The touchpad does not show in the device manager, so the Elan tab doesn't exist either.

it sounds like the pad has failed i would return it.

I was thinking that too.

I've found the same computer at a local retailer for $50 less, so after work I am going to go and check it out. If it actually works, I will buy it and return this one.

i was going to put "you should have bought a mac" but thought that wasnt really what you wanted to hear also i dont know what your doing with it sooo yeah

You should have, I can take it. LOL

Funny thing is that I've been wanting laptop for a year or so, and always said that I would get a Mac (already have iPhone and iPad). But when push came to shove, I turtled and went PC.
