Call any machine shop. Tell them you need the brackets drilled to M14 x 2.00
Should be no problem for them.
I've called 2 and both said they don't want the responsibility of having them not be perfectly straight and the bracket square to the knuckle.
What do they do when manifold bolts break? Or lower intake bolts on chryslers break? This shouldn't be that difficult lol
LOL.. 2 isn't many. But ... off you go. Enjoy your drive. See ya in a bit with your drilled brackets![]()
I work 7am to 6 pm monday through saturday. The likelyhood of a machine shop being open before 7 or after 6 or even on sunday is slim to none.
But I guess the purpose of me writing in the title "ne illinois" is hopes that someone on here could do it or knows a place. Not to be told to get off my butt and drive.
Then hope onto some tool sites and buy the drill and tap. Probably run you about $50. Or pick up the sleeves and use those instead of drilling/tapping.
It's pretty easy if you can't go to a machine shop to drop off or pick up...what'st he difference? May as well do what I did and do them yourself. I borrowed the drill and tap from a machinsit buddy.
I frequently tell guys to get off their butts and drive somewhere etc. Take your brackets just the brackets and go to a machine shop. Tell the guy you want these two holes drilled and tapped to M14 x 2.00 please. Likely he'll do them right then. It's different calling than showing a hands on guy what needs to be done.
If its as easy as buying a drill and tap why wont anyone do it? I don't get why some people make it seem extremely critical and some seem like its as easy as changing oil. Trust me man im all down for working on my own car over someone else. I work in an auto shop so I have all the stuff needed to do it...I just Don't want to jack it up.
What size drill bit do I use? I guess I could grab one from the junkyard if I mess it up.
