99.9% of the time you wouldn't be able to hear the knock until it's too late. The knock sensors monitor for knock and the PCM adjusts the timing to attempt to stop it and this all happens before you would hear it. You need to monitor for knock with an Aeroforce, ELM 327 adapter, etc. before you can say it's not knocking. I can guarantee you it was knocking on 87, no if's and's or but's about it.

I had a front bearing start to go bad. Has that ever happened to anyone else?

Yes, it happens to most of us. W-bodies eat bearings, lol. They last longer if you clean the bore of the knuckle and torque the bolts correctly.

Psh my GP had 125k, multiple track passes, more WOT time than not on the stock bearings. Somehow they are still stock. Lol

    Today's project.

I like the fact that the outer part isn't painted of the caliper. I want to paint the rotors like below! Gives it some definition.

I really like this one, minis the exterior of the caliper being painted! Round 2, here we go. ☺

    That looks horrible

If anything you should of painted the cap and vents black and that's it. Red screams... I got ahold of a can of spray paint and lost control.
