Wise man learns after his first teardown that cleaning the motor prior to teardown is easier. I learned the hard way too.

Scott, I thought you had a compressor and could put the springs on with the engine together?

Bob.. please spray brake cleaner on a rag and wipe out the freeze plugs. It's amazing how much nicer it'll look


I hope you both have some Purple Power/Simple Green on hand for when you yank the motor. That day.. the car should be sprayed liberally in the engine bay and hosed repeatedly. Clean it right up and install will be much better/cleaner.
