Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
going to try a 2.7" pulley because I think the 2.6 heat's up the air too much or the blower is maxed out. I thought about a bigger throttle body but decided not to make a decision on it since there is a chance a gen v will get installed
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
I noticed that I had not posted my personal best 1/8th mile time, 9.77. not sure if I still have the time slip. I did switch back to regular gas, and on Saturday I am planning on making a run to Rock Springs to buy some E85, so will be switching back to E85 again.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
Your 9.77 is about a 15.3 in the 1/4.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
I know, I can't find a calculator that converts elevation to sea level
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
time to drive down that mountain, bring your bigger pulleys and drag race it.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
I wonder if it would pass tech inspection, it is kind of a jalopy
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
yech here was a joke, pretty much handed them filled out paper work, then they wrote my number on the back window, and the guy said have fun.
never popped the hood even, guy did notice i had a intercooler of some sort tho.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
Conversion factor for Denver (similar elevation) is 0.9405. That makes your 9.77 a 9.19. That 9.19 converts to about a 14.3...
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
Denver is 5280ish feet, we are at 7000 feet here, and with density altitude it is often 9500, on hot days it goes up even more.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
NHRA has Denvers track at 5800 ft. The conversion factor isn't that much different. 6800 foot conversion would be about .929. Your 9.77 is still a 9.08 which is still a 14.20. Elevation doesn't make as big a difference as you think and it actually makes less of a difference on boosted cars.
As far as times go the time you record at the track you are at is the time you get. Governing bodies don't factor in altitude and such things. A guy in the 3000GT/Stealth game ran an 8.74 in the 1/4 in Albuquerque. He didn't go around trying to say it would have been faster than that at sea level. It would have been an 8.26 based on conversion factors..
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
it seems like the car should be faster than it is. the car has an xp cam with E85 and methanol injection running a 2.6 pulley and no kr. I'm not sure what it should run at the track.

Clicking on picture links.... no likey.
Especially here at work where sites like Google Drive....DropBox.... all stuff is Verboten!

fuel pump is in, and working. need to take the car on a test run now.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
Too much meth.
You're probably washing it out.
Sounds much slower than it should be.
I ran an 8.1 at sea level in the 1/8th with an XP, 3.4", and pump gas.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
pump had to have been holding me back. loaded an adjustment to the tune, have the 2.6 pulley and 21 degrees of timing, car pulls hard now. at 80% throttle with the new pump the car runs better than at 100% throttle on the old pump. AFR was rich, like 10ish. I have a new tune ready to load with the maf sensor adjusted so it won't be as rich next time.
