Every single track in the world doesn't start the clock until you break the beam.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
you are right, I just didn't know. you still have to have good r/t if you want to win races. I probably shouldn't worry about it since I don't win that many anyway.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
One I noticed recently, I had the coolant leak, was leaking near the radiator cap, well it stopped leaking for no apparent reason. I put a bigger pulley on the supercharger, and that's it. The only thing I can think of that would cause this is a head gasket or a intake manifold gasket failure, but both are unlikely.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
Somewhere on this forum was a thread about the radiator cap leaking. I tried searching but can't find it now. Anyway, in that thread I believe it was spazz that said to glob some Silicone PTFE Lube on the rubber o-ring seal inside the cap. Like really smoother it good. That suppose to solve that problem.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
I'll give that a try tonight and see what happens
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
I didn't have any ptft lube so I tried lithium grease, it's white. I think the radiator cap has failed. got another cap, need to wait for the car to cool down then I'll change it out.
I put the 3.1 pulley on, then switched back to the 2.8. this methanol works great, don't need the E85 to run the 2.8. the car is making about 10.5 lbs of boost with the 2.8.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
my first pull with the 2.8 had no kr, then the 3 or 4 after I had up to 3* of kr. was commanding 22* of timing. pulling the timing back to 18*.
I had like 5 gallons of E85 still in the tank with I switched back to regular, I have about a half tank now, and will be filling up tomorrow at a gas station that sells ethanol free gas. I am moderately curious what kind of gas mileage I will get. Hoping for 30 mpg. the good thing is that the remaining ethanol should be brought down pretty low with the ethanol free gas and so my LTFT's will go back to normal.

Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
just ordered a 2.6 pulley. might have to pull a bunch of timing to run it, but when/if I go back to E85 it will make a bunch more power
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
I put the 2.6 pulley on and made 11 psi of boost. the small nozzle sucks, just doesn't make the power of the medium size.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
on my pulley days my 3.4 did 10.8psi :)

as did i back then. hes got a cam and heads. thats gonna lower boost.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
simple physics, more air out, less restriction, less boost. I bet with the medium size nozzle the car will be scary fast.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
Sorry snowflakes I forgot to enter my "insert dirty sarcasm humor here" before I hit enter.
And Private a 14sec car cannot be scary fast.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
if it truely was a 14 second car, you would be right. I bet if I could drive it would be a low 13 car. launching is my biggest problem, and once I figure that part out, I bet I can get it into the 8's on the 1/8th mile. a 7 second 1/8th mile is a 10 sec 1/4 mile.
on a different topic, my dad's estate was finally settled and I am a new proud owner of 8.5 acres in the middle part of Vermont. Anyone know how much real estate is needed for a dragstrip? either 1/4 or 1/8th?
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
An 8.9 in the 1/8 is about a 13.8 1/4. Even if you managed to get to 8.0 in the 1/8 that is still a 12.5 1/4. You're a long, long, long way from even managing that.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
those numbers give me a lot of perspective. i'm still on street tires, I think once I put some type of slick on it, that will really help. maybe it will take a second off my time. slicks will probably put me in the 8's or low 9's
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
Thats still horrible. You wife should put a bullet in your head for being scared of that turbo you bought then sold asap.
Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition NEW nickname "The Jalopy"
lot's of people should have put a bullet in my head, taliban tried and missed on several occasions.
