Andesmint's 2000 GT.. BROKEN AGAIN!!

Plugging the silencer ports is usually a bad idea.

A few people have used QuiKSteel and haven't had a problem. But me on the other hand, used QuikSteel and after 3,000 miles, one of the QuikSteel globs I used to cover to silencer port couldn't within stand the heat and dropped in my engine. Not a good thing.

Turned out Alright as I rebuilt everything the block up and included all the mods in my Sig.

Point being though, do it at your own risk. Some have luck. Others don't. For me, after learning the hard way, the extra whine wasn't worth hurting my engine again, if something went wrong.

yeah i had heard that the main issue people had was debris breaking off of it. I'm going to think on this and try to come up with a fool proof solution. ill let you know if i think of a way and meybe do a write up. although i have read the "correct way" before and that looks pretty good to me tbh.. is that the only thing to be concerned about?

But it's a risky issue, since you can't monitor it, Unless you pulled the blower off everyday.

Don't use the kind of quicksteel you mix use the putty kind.

Is it impractical to weld them shut?

You could.. As long as it's done right and not some hack job.. And also welding cost monies.. Quicksteel is cheap.

I'd be curious what an actual welding shop would charge. Seems like cheap insurance if you really want those slots plugged.

even then there'd be a risk. I have welding experience and I must say welding anything that has been cast is hit or miss. you'd have to heat the blower housing up in an oven as hot as you could get it before welding it, and get it to cool as slow as possible after doing the welds... otherwise it would more than likely crack. Also, the tolerances of the rotors and the housing are very very tight. If the housing warped at all during the process, also likely, then you'd be screwed. I personally don't think welding them is a good option here. just too much of a risk of destroying the housing

I think in order to keep it from warping you could make a plate like in the "correct way" thread and then weld it in with just a few small tac welds... but I don't think they'd be strong enough at that point. I feel that in order to make it strong enough you'd have to do enough welds that there'd be a risk of it warping or cracking. I'd try it if I had a spare housing, I have the welders, but I'm not about to risk my only blower housing.

You can pick up a spare housing for stupid cheap.

maybe ill get one just to try and let everyone on here know how it works out. Ill look in FS section but anybody can PM me if they have one for a good price

Well, figured i'd let you guys take a look at some of the interior.

I had the dumb cloth interior. the back seat had turned pink in some areas due to the sun which was fugly, the back door panels had tears and were cracked. I think i got lucky though cuz I got all for door panels and the back seat wrapped in the graphite "leather" for 75 bucks.

that's a sub wire in the door jam. that was temp routing, ill be sending it through the firewall sometime this week.

The front seats were worn though so i passed on them. I also don't like how the leather front seats feel so i went with what i see as a better solution.

Here's what i like to call the double barrel strut bar. made it myself haha. its prolly the beefiest strut bar i've seen on any of our cars.

And here's an idea. remove the ugly fabric dust mesh stuff on the speaker covers. i just popped em off the door panels, soaked em in purple power and scrubbed it all off.

I know the door panel is dirty. foot tends to rub there when i get out. tall people problems.

oh heres a fun picture i took during the process of cleanin up the parts. I detail semi trucks at a shop/dealership. Nothing like being able to wash all of your parts at once! haha.

at least you don't have a coupe, the door panel would get even more dirty, and im not even very tall. can barely open my door in a parking lot

You would think me working on an active duty post with plenty of motorpools all over and an autos shop I'd be able to find a damn parts washer like that.......... Nope I dont have one in my shop neither do the other 3 I checked or the autos shop! I have a set of heads I want to clean up and prep for a turbo car, but since I cant find a parts washer like that I might as well drop them off for magnaflux'd and checked out then they will get cleaned up anyways.

That parts washed makes me jelly since ive been looking for one for about the last 2 weeks!

If you wait to you're back in GF I can toss it in that one for ya! Haha. Magnufluxing is never a bad idea though

Where is that shop? My family has one I usually work out of when im at home.
