Only thing that blows chunks other than being a ford , is the terrible fuel mileage of that 4.0. It's like having a V8 under the hood.

Decent little trucks when you need them though.

I have to agree, 12-14 city and only 19 highway...LOL and the 4.0 isn't exactly a tower of power either.

We had a Toyota Tacoma 2002 with the 3.4, it was a full 4 doors, it was really really really ****ing nice. Thing just got a new frame, LCA, Leaf Springs, fuel lines, brake lines from Toyota, but they wanted way out of the range we wanted to spend. Also the 5 foot bed kind of was eh...so The Range came back into play.

My 00 Silverado full size extended cab with 8 foot bed and 4 wheel drive gets better mileage than your Ranguuuuuuuuuur. Momma taught me to say only nice things..at first.

Thats what the Goberment says about the Ranger, most guys do see more than that. Real world is 16-17 city and 23 highway

ALL Small pickups are terrible on gas, it wasn't until a couple years ago when Obama put regulations on the Small pickups we had a variety, now we are loosing them. Only 3 are left and I would beg to differ on the concept of small pickup with the 2 out of 3 of them (Tacoma is the size of an old Tundra, Frontier ....well that hasn't been touched in 10+ years, and the new chevy is about as small as you get).

I don't like big trucks, I always liked the short wheelbase and small tossable pickups. I had a Chevy S10, and the only really good s-10s were the early 90s boxies, the newer ones were total POS....and lets not even discuss the Dodge Dakota. The Ford Rangers do have some faults but for the $5-7k price gap to go to a Tacoma, its just not worth it to spend, because then the Tacoma is really a daily driver.

I drove this to work this morning, my back got a little numb; The none adjustable steering wheel height is annoying, I miss my amenities, driving the Saab tomorrow . So in other words, this truck works for beating around in it and won't ever become a daily replacement, we spent the right amount. Had we bought the Tacoma, it would have been awful to let that truck just sit around.
