    Hello all.

I officially parted ways with my GP to make way for my dream of building a legit race car. In this case, one that goes around corners sideways!
I thought for awhile of what forum to join for it or whether or not I should at all. I decided to make a build thread on GPF, where everything started for me actually modifying cars. I figured this would be really fun for you guys to follow as it's pretty much the exact opposite of what you normally see on this forum. No more talk, here's my "new" 1993 Miata and my old 2000 GT.

Please, I'm open to all questions and comments!

I picked it up three weeks ago for $3,200, it had 130XXX miles on it and just two owners before me. The first owner had it until 124K and was owned by a Miata enthusiast for the last two years who took great care of it. Clean car inside and out, had a good amount of ugly spots but very little rust and almost mechanically perfect. The little 1.6 has a good punch and the 5 speed is very smooth. I've already put it through a couple of nights of rough beating and it's been taking it like a champ.

I have a ton of mods planned but all will be taken care of at a nice steady pace. Until I take care of a 1.8 rear end swap the car will be more setup for grip than anything. More pics soon, it's been a long week and I'm exhausted.

Ordered coils the day I sold the Pontiac and are already on the car. Sways are on the way and the tires on the car are brand new, will upgrade to 15x8 +20 or +0 when the tires go bald.

Carb legal turbo kit will be installed when the chassis is done.

Well the only things I did to my GP that would concern a smog check station is the K&N CAI, HV3, downpipe, U-bend delete, and the SLP cat-back.

CA requires carb stickers for anything before the cat so that makes the SLP exhaust system exempt already, the K&N intake had a sticker under the hood, the aftermarket intake runners can't be seen from the outside, and as far as the custom 2.5in downpipe and u-bend delete go..... Must have been lucky enough that the guy didn't care or didn't know anything about the stock diameters/shape. What might have something to do with it is that the guy who did my exhaust work recommended me to the smog station I went to because it's run by a "cool guy." I'll probably end up getting a custom cat-back made from the same shop for my Miata in the future. As for now I like having a stealthy car for when I'm hooning at night!

Miatas honestly dont need body kits, they have that simplistic look. Especially since you wanna drift it, not time attack it.

I agree with you Odi. My only plans for the exterior is canards on the front and a spoiler for a bit more down force, and fender flares to widen the wheelbase a little. I'm trying to keep all my mods on this car purely for function.

Flares on a miata look awesome. Make sure you do a roll bar and the proper bracing. Believe it or not. They have some mighty car mods videos on how to do it on a miata

I love those guys! My car will be rocking one of their stickers one day for sure hahaha. I plan on having a full custom cage welded in down the road so my car will pass tech at the local events. I want to done asap because the Miata's chassis flexes around all the time. You don't even have to feel it, you can hear it going in and out of driveways.
