It got really really nice here in Michigan this week. So cleaned it really good inside and out. On the outside I gave it a wash. Compounded the entire car and then waxed it with that collinite stuff... Holy shlt does that stuff work awesome. It makes my paint look like glass. I haven't seen water on it yet. But I'm sure the bead will be awesome becuse it's nice and smooth. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...9d461f2c46.jpg
And my spot at school:)
AND
my lca's are going in this weekend. I just need to hunt down a torx bit and figure out an alternative to not using a pickling fork. My summer rims won't be going on for another couple weeks becuse one I still need to get a Allen bolt to get my lugs on if any of you guys remember the disaster that happened this fall lol. And 2 Michigans unpredictable weather. I don't want to put them on and then have a freak storm and me get caught in a bad spot.
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
Alternative to picklefork for the ball joints is hammer and large screwdriver lol, in case you need it, it should be a t55 if i remember right.
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
Alright so I worked on it all day today... Took my time with my dad and just kinda went step by step... First started off by looking at what everything's condition was in.
First the lca. Driver side already had 97-03 so that must have been replaced. Passenger 04+. Bushings were shot so bad on both.
To my extrrem suprise... The sway bar links that held on the stock sway bar was completely off and was wedged on the lca...and when I Mean wedged, there was a huge dent in the lca from the link... I couldn't believe it. It wasn't attached to anything. No wonder it handled so bad. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...e9075e3a9f.jpg
You can see there to the left it was wedge in the lca. And the sway was just hanging there.
So after we tore everything down we wrested the new sway in there which took FOREVER. we took off the tie rod ends to get the bar into place. I had to tap out the driver side. But I must have hammered to hard becuase I couldn't get the castle nut back on.... So I had to run and get a new end link. And I don't have a wrench big enough. After many swears, alot of scrapes ever where, tired muscles. I gave up and will get back at it tomorrow morning. Frustrated that I wanted to get this done today but couldn't. It will be well worth it though http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...1cbcbb9a1d.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...ab6857e893.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...a4f6ac5e4c.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...9a6b007329.jpg
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
your links broke off the sway bar. i drove for a while with no sway bar, and oh my did it not handle at all, more like a boat plowing around corners, a quick lane change felt like you could die.
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
I have a feeling it's going to be night and day... It clunked pretty hard when I turned. So I'm happy that I will get my handling back haha... Not only getting my sway back but getting the upgraded one back... Plus new lca's... I'm excited.
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
it should feel like a new car when your done. or like your driving someone else's car lol
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
Are those JY LCAs? too bad you can't replace the bushings while they're out. You'll notice a BIG difference, lol.
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
No no no... Those are the ones that were on the car... I put brand new ones on... Moog I beleive

They still make bushings right to press in?
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
I have no idea really... I'm not sure someone would want to get them pressed out
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
Oh, teach me to read the beginning of the post, lol. I saw the sway bar tab on the driver side and though it was your replacement. Mind snapping a pic of the new ones if you can tomorrow or something? Every Moog LCA I have seen doesn't have the Problem Solver front (vertical) bushing, but they've been getting more popular so maybe they pulled their head out of their ass and started installing them. They make the bushing, the least they could do is sell it in one of their control arms.
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
Haha your good... And yea they had bushing in them! http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...ef65fe53de.jpg
I can get a close up tomorrow
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
I can't tell really, I think they aren't the problem solvers, stupid Moog.
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
I'm not sure what you mean... All of the holes had bushings in them
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
He means the rubber bushings that are in it..

Oh I gotcha... Well these guys are in already so when/if these fail I know what I'm putting in them
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
Well you should have awhile before they fail. Most of us seem to go ahead and do them while we have the CA out. Like me even though my CA were brand new.. Went ahead and did the swap to save myself the future headache.

I'm hoping to get clays old ones clean them up and press a new bushing into them.
Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
Do it! Or grab a junkyard 97-03 style set for dirt cheap. Clean them up.. Repaint and replace bushings. < that was my plan until I got a awesome deal on the Moog ones

Re: Tanks silver 04 GT2 (lots of pics)
I am all done and I can't belive how night and day this is... It is amazing. Going over pot hole repairs and bumps are nothing anymore where as before I felt every single bump. And cornering is night and day too. Getting out of my drive way isn't a back breaking experience anymore. And it stays level the entire way. Well worth the fuss and the time.
New tie rod helped a lot too. Overall very very pleased.
