Thank you sir! They don't sound too bad when they're stock, I'm excited to get an intake and exhaust on there and really hear that turbo!

See...Matt knows all about it.
If I didn't get the Saab I was looking at BMW E90 330XI sedan's, I trust the N52 more than the N54
Damn that was a lot of good info to take in right there lol I've definitely got plans to change plugs real soon, and I read up online about the timing belt interval, so I'll be sure to stay on that. You kinda scared me there with the EBD, so I'm definitely gonna be careful with that lol is there anything I can do to prevent it, or is it inevitable? Thanks for the heads up on all that though, do you own one yourself or just know a lot about them?
Saab has Fuel pumps that go out around 100k (mine lasted to 130k), they are only $200 and take about 15-20 minutes to change out. Easy as pie.
European cars have parts that wear so they don't break the more expensive and strong important parts, well that is the idea and theory anyways. I still find more joy in owning a Euro over American (just how I am), since all the Japs have become Appliances.
The EBD can just simply be unbolted. That's it.
Thinking about it, your car has a big torque limiter in first and second gear. You can fix that by getting a tune. I'd be leery of it unless you fixed the angle gear first.
I have a 2001 S80 T6. Pretty much the worst Volvo made possibly ever short of the XC90 T6. Even higher failure rates on the electronic modules, plus the transmission is a 4T65E in a Grand Prix GXP like situation where heat, torque, slip all got together to kill the transmissions much faster than anyone had expected.

Yea I definitely wanted to go Euro with my next car, I just hate the risk of owning one and having parts break/fail because of the cost to fix them. The one time we had to take my moms Audi to the dealership, it was a nice fat bill lol
Oh, lower control arms.
You're going to go through them like toilet paper.
You could try poly bushings. That's the route I went, Superflex rear and Powerflex front from Viva Performance. But I don't know how long they're going to last to be honest. Some people have commented on the poly bushings in here: Swedespeed Forums - FCP Urethane LCAs
Longest I've seen in there is 15 000 miles without issue.
A small heads up on the rad. If it goes and your temps go up, turn the car off immediately. The headgasket pops really easily if overheated. Keep an open eye for coolant leaks near the end caps of the rad.
Car will be great when it works![]()
nice find
LOL Stop scaring me
I knew about the control arms, when I worked at a shop, I replaced only a bajillion of them on Volvo's lol
So far no leaks out of the radiator, and one of the things I check probably more than my speed itself, is my ECT![]()
Ha, I've already spent a pile.
And I know I need a transmission and brakes all around. I think a tune, intercooler and the transmission/brake repairs, it'd be a very solid, yet fun vehicle for another 6-10 years.
If you know what can go wrong, you know what to watch for. That way you're more prepared to deal with it, if it occurs. I'm sure most of this stuff is a non issue for most of the vehicles out there.
So the only thing I'd assume to be common would be the LCAs. Everything else will likely be hit or miss.
Old news, is old.![]()
nice car. how much did it run you or are you doing payments on it?
this reminds me of the naughty volvo commercials
Payments on it
Yea I'm definitely one of the guys that fixes problems before they become a serious issue, I hate not having a car to drive. All the advice is definitely appreciated though, I couldn't find some of that stuff online so it's definitely good to know what to watch out for.
Thanks manI know for sure I'm tinting the windows but I don't think I'll tint heads/tails or change rims, I really like the clean look it has stock.
