We have her GP up for sale ATM, but no bites. Definitely lacking a TA in my collection.

    Here's the progress so far:

As stated in my previous post the seats are out of 99 Cavalier. The issue when these are installed is that the seat belt holder hits the pillar. To avoid this they must be removed and here's how to do it.

First thing is to move the headrest to the furthest up position and remove the metal clip:

To access them, the fabric must be moved below the plastic housing. You will be able to pry them out with a small flathead screwdriver. Make certain you are doing this from the rear of the seats.

Reminds me of a GM transmission clip that holds the lines in the radiator:

Once the headrests are removed you will need to flip them over and remove the metal ring:

At this point you have 2 options. You can reinstall the clips to hold the headrests in place or leave them out:

Now it's time to remove the factory seats. This is done with a 13mm socket for the front and 13mm wrench for the rear:

Once the seat is removed enjoy your new found riches:

When i acquired my Fiero the driver seat had a seat cover and this is why:

Time to remove the seat tracks off both seats. Fiero=13mm Cavy=15mm

Comparison of the two seats (Fiero seat on the left)

    Cavalier tracks removed

Fiero seat tracks installed on Cavy seat=direct swap

Put the driver seat in the car(uninstalled) then called it quits for dinner. I'll update with pictures when both are bolted in.

give up on that poor 2.8 boat anchor and put a 3800 turbo in there.

Fieros are not much lighter than gtps... if at all....

Add the weight of a 3.8 and its transmission and its alot heavier.

But I'm not sure if thats what dark was getting at, as a after the fact that its swapped its still a 3000 lbs car.

The work I did on the engine was just to keep it running until the swap happens. It's getting a 3800 then going turbo. I see the plate on eBay to mount the turbo directly off the manifold. I'll have it welded though dont really like the bolt on design. Seems like the easiest thing to do. Any recommendations on turbo? I'll more than likely end up running a ST1 with 90lb springs. Would like to get 450+whp out of it.

Beginning my search for a donor GP. Holy crap I forgot how cheap these cars have gotten. Plenty of both GT and GTP's in the sub 2k range that are actually in pretty damn good shape. Eyeing a 40th that is a little more than I want to pay. Gonna see if I can get the owner to come off some. Engine and trans will go to the fiero, all other parts will be pulled for the TGP.

    Well this is interesting....

Recieved an email because a director is needing a red automatic Pontic Fiero for an upcoming movie. Contacted the person and sent him pictures. He will be talking to the director Monday to see if my fiero will fit what they are looking for. If it is, they will be sending out a truck to pick it up to ship to Louisana. It will be out of my possession for 2 weeks. A bonus with this, I get paid for them using my car. Winning.....

if anyone is curious the movie is called Dark Places:

Very cool. However, make sure anything you signs specifies that they are responsible for any damage etc and it being fixed to a level you deem acceptable. I have a neighbor who does film and his stuff is always on the up and up, but he has told me that not everyone is. Keep in mind you can negotiate for more $$$$. Their offer is simly a starting point. You should make sure the contract has a clause about additional payment if it takes them longer. That rate should also be what is paid to you during repair time if the damage your car. I don't want to be a downer, but want to be sure you don't get hosed.

I was actually thinking about your car this morning because I was at a car show and saw a swapped Fiero. The owner was cool and we talked for a bit.
